Preview: Gents Look to Continue Win Streak

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's basketball team will look to continue its winning ways this week when it hosts Mississippi College on Thursday at 7:30 pm and Louisiana College on Saturday at 3 pm in the Gold Dome.

The Gents are riding a two-game win streak into the week's contest and hold a 3-7 overall record.

LAST TIME OUT
Senior Maxx Nakwaasah posted his eighth career double-double and second this season on a 29-point, 11-rebound effort to guide the Centenary men's basketball team to its second straight victory in a 90-64 win over Howard Payne on Saturday afternoon in the Gold Dome. With the win, Centenary improved to 3-7 overall, while Howard Payne fell to 6-7. The last time the Gents posted back-to-back wins was in 2009 with wins over Texas College and ULM in the Gold Dome. The 26-point margin victory over Howard Payne was the largest since dating back to an 86-44 win over Southern Utah in the Gold Dome during the 2003-04 season.

A LOOK AT OVERALL STATS
Senior Maxx Nakwaasah continues to dominate and lead the Gents in scoring and rebounding with 25.4 ppg and 8.1 rpg. The forward also leads the team in minutes per game with 34.9. Following Nakwaasah in scoring for the Gents is sophomore Jonathan Blount with 10.0 ppg after returning from an injury recovery. Centenary is averaging 71.7 ppg, while allowing its opponents' 79.5 ppg.

COUNT IT DOWN FOR MAXX
Maxx Nakwaasah has excelled the last three seasons as the Gents' leading scorer and one of the top rebounders on the team as a small forward. The Dallas, Texas native is eyeing the 1,000 point club and 500 rebound club at Centenary in his final season.

A LOOK AT MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE
Mississippi College enters Thursday's contest with a 3-8 overall record and is coming off a 75-82 loss to Hardin-Simmons last Saturday. The Choctaws are led by Trevon Malone with 15.1 ppg and 6.7 rpg.

HISTORY
Centenary and Mississippi College will meet for the 17th time in history. The Choctaws currently hold the all-time record of 9-7. The two teams haven't met since 1990.

A LOOK AT LOUISIANA COLLEGE
Louisiana College will meet ETBU on Thursday before heading to Shreveport on Saturday. The Cats are 4-6 overall and are riding a five-game skid, which includes a 64-75 loss to McMurry in their last contest. Jarrod Jackson paces the team in scoring with 15.2 ppg. Korey Salmon leads the team with 6.2 rpg.

HISTORY
Centenary and Louisiana College will meet for the 30th time in history. The Gents lead the all-time series, 25-4, but the two teams haven't met on the hardwood since 1984.
