SHERMAN, Texas – Madison Alexander and Spencer Nickerson each found the back of the net for the Ladies and Gents Friday night in Centenary’s Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference debuts, but Austin College escaped with a couple of 3-1 wins in soccer action. The Ladies fall to 2-2-1 (0-1 SCAC) and the Gents drop to 2-4 (0-1) after snapping its three-match losing streak against with a double-overtime win against Millsaps College Sept. 16. The Lady Kangaroos improve 3-4 (1-0) while Austin College’s men jump to 4-1-2 (1-0). Centenary returns to Mayo Field Sunday with a doubleheader against Hendrix College. The Ladies kick off at 1 p.m., followed by the Gents at 3. Nickerson erased Austin College’s lead, tying the game at one apiece in the 57th minute. Cullen Gallet earned his first assist. Harroon Ismail put the Kangaroos on the board at the 46:24 mark with an assist from Caleb Walters. Caleb Sherer and Guillermo Allande AC’s final two goals just over three minutes apart. Sherer’s 70th-minute goal was unassisted, followed by Allande’s score off a penalty kick. Robbie Ramirez pulled in six saves as the AC offense fired 20 shots. Nickerson took five of Centenary’s 12 attempts, three on goal. Brandon Heim took three shots, two on goal. |
