Gents fall to Hendrix; host top-ranked SCAC foe Friday
SHREVEPORT – Brandon Heim netted his first goal of the year Sunday, but it wasn’t enough as Hendrix College escaped with a 3-1 non-conference men’s soccer win. Centenary dropped to 2-5 while the visiting Warriors improved to 7-1. The Gents host No. 1 Trinity University in SCAC play Friday at 5 p.m. Heim’s 85th-minute goal, assisted by Gabriel Zahm, sliced into a 2-1 Hendrix lead after the Warriors scored two first-half goals just 10 minutes apart (13:46, 23:04). Will Dunaway scored the first and final goals for the visitors, assisted by Pedro Sagone and Tresor Mukiza, respectively. Hendrix outshot the Gents 20-15, edging the hosts in both halves, 12-8 and 8-7. Centenary’s Spencer Nickerson led the Gents offense with four shots and three shots on goal. Zahm, Zachary Kidder, Clinton Azeez and Heim accounted for the other four of the Gents seven shots on goal. Hendrix tallied nine. Senior goalie Robbie Ramirez collected six saves, matching counterpart Marco Luna’s save total. |
