Centenary, Dallas set for SCAC meetings
IRVING, Texas – Spencer Nickerson and Madison Alexander lead their respective Centenary soccer squads to the University of Dallas Friday afternoon to continue Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Gents (2-7, 0-3 SCAC) open the doubleheader against the Crusaders (3-5, 0-3) at 2 p.m., followed by the women. Both Centenary and Dallas’ men’s squads look to end four-game losing streaks. After Friday’s match, the Gents with will travel to Colorado College Sunday to complete weekend play. The Ladies (3-4-1) enter the contest on a two-match losing streak, their only losing streak of the season. The Lady Crusaders (8-6, 1-2) started the year 5-0, but also ride a four-match losing streak and have lost five of six overall. The only win in their last six games was a 2-1 triumph over Southwestern University Sept. 23. Centenary lost to Southwestern 3-0 last weekend. The matches against Dallas start a three-game road trip for the Ladies and a four-game stint away from Mayo Field for the Gents. Oct. 20 against Austin College marks the next home matches for Centenary, wrapping up the regular season with nine total home contests, five for the Gents and four for the Ladies. Adam Ghaemmaghami scored the Gents only goal in the 2-1 loss to Southwestern Sunday, putting him just a goal back from Nickerson’s team-high three. Alexander and Carly Slovensky are tied atop the Ladies team charts with four goals apiece, but Alexander’s two assists gives her the two-point edge in total points (10-8). |
