No. 1 Trinity sweeps Centenary
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Trinity scored three first-half goals and tacked on four more in the second half as the top-ranked Tigers beat Centenary for the second time in as many tries 7-0 Sunday afternoon in men’s soccer play. The Gents extend their losing streak to eight games, falling to 2-11 and 0-7 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play after looking to avenge a 3-0 home loss to No. 1 Trinity Sept. 28. The Tigers stay undefeated at 14-0-2 and improve to 5-0-0 in SCAC play. Centenary wrapped up its four-match road trip and hosts Austin College Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. Centenary managed just two shots Sunday, one from Zachary Kidder Brandon Heim, while senior goalie Robbie Ramirez collected 11 saves. Trinity managed 41 shots, led by Jeremy Gray’s eight and Kyle Porter’s four. Victor Araujo took advantage of both of is shot attempts, both goals, and added an assist on a goal by Jonny Lawson in the 67th minute that gave Trinity a 5-0 lead. Gray scored the game-winner at 6:56 mark, followed by Tom Carwile score just into the 15th minute. |
