SHREVEPORT – Centenary fired 15 shots Saturday night, but couldn’t find the back of the net as Austin College swept the season series with a 1-0 men’s soccer win in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action. The Gents fall to 2-12 and 0-8, extending their losing streak to nine games while Austin College improves to 7-5-2 and evens its SCAC record at 3-3. Centenary continues its five-game home stand Tuesday, breaking from SCAC play against Texas College at 7 p.m. Caleb Sherer scored the game’s only goal, unassisted early in the 28th minute, knocking in one of his seven shots, four on goal, from 20 yards out. Sherer led all players with seven shots while Spencer Nickerson topped the Gents with five attempts and two on goal. Senior goalie Robbie Ramirez collected five saves, allowing the single goal, and received no help from the Gents offense, which has been shut out for the fourth straight game. His counterpart, Andrew Celio, grabbed four saves during the shutout. |
