Seniors lead Gents to third straight win
SHREVEPORT - Centenary extended its winning streak to three games with a 2-0 victory over University of Dallas Sunday. It was also Centenary’s third straight shutout, as senior goalkeeper Robbie Ramirez grabbed five saves for his fourth shutout of the season and fellow senior Adam Ghaemmaghami scored both goals for his team-best fifth on the year and third in his past two games. Centenary improved to 5-12 and 2-8 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play while the University of Dallas fell to 5-9-2 (2-7-1). Ramirez and Ghaemmaghami, along with John Seat and Spencer Nickerson were honored before Sunday’s match, which was deemed Senior Day. Centenary will wrap up its five-match home stand and regular season Tuesday against Louisiana College at 7 p.m. Centenary jumped out to an early lead 1-0 after Ghaemmaghami scored his first goal of the afternoon at the 8:23 mark. That was only one of three shots in the half, but Centenary’s defense held strong and led 1-0 at half. Centenary kept the momentum in the second half, and Ghaemmaghmi netted his second goal at the 62:11 mark on assists by Zachary Kidder and Gabriel Zahm. “We finally got the momentum going our way and took it into this game,” Ghaemmaghami said. “It was another team effort and another team win,” Nickerson said. “It’s always good to win.” Ghaemmaghami led the team with six shots while Kellen Klaus contributed with three. Dallas outshot Centenary 16 to 12, but Centenary led in corner kicks 5-2. Juan Hernandez-Reyes led University of Dallas with five shot attempts, two on goal. Alex Hoyt added four shots and Colton Allen had three. |
