McMaster, Reeks grab pair of third-place finishes
SEGUIN, Texas – Michael Reeks and newcomer Anthony McMaster highlighted Centenary’s fall debut at the Doc Skogman Invitational with third-place finishes. Reeks and McMaster each went 2-1, joining Garrett Whipple, who also won two of his three matches, wrapping up a fifth-place performance in singles play. McMaster opened the tournament with a 6-2, 6-3 win over ETBU’s Tyler Tolopka, but dropped his semifinal amtch against Prairie View’s Jackson Varney, 6-4, 6-3, the eventual champion of the B singles bracket. Reeks topped Casey Woodfin 6-3, 6-4 in the F singles quarterfinals before falling to Rasaki Gbadamosi in the semis, 7-5, 6-2, also the eventual champion. Reeks rebounded from the loss to down Edgar Lazcano 6-3, 6-3 in the consolation match. Garrett Whipple won his final two matches after losing his first to capture fifth place. After an opening-round loss to Sanio Dizdarevic, Whipple toppled Dalton Woodfin, 6-2, 6-2, to moved to the fifth-place match, where he won via walkover against Weston Godsey. Cameron Bueche and Thomas Paddock each went 1-2 in singles play while Jordan Sanghali lost both of his. |
