Centenary's bid for first win falls short
TYLER, Texas – Centenary is still looking for win No. 1 after dropping all six sets Saturday afternoon to ETBU (25-16, 25-17, 25-13) and host UT Tyler (25-11, 25-9, 25-10). The Ladies (0-8) hope to notch their first win at home Sept. 11 in the first of four tri-matches on the season. The tri-match Tuesday starts with Belhaven vs. Mississippi College at 3 p.m., followed by Centenary’s matches each squad at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. Centenary’s offense struggled in both matches, marking just a .037 hitting mark against ETBU and only hit double-digits twice against UT Tyler. Sarah Sumner and Rachel Perkins led all Ladies with 17 attacks in the day’s first loss, followed by Sarah Irons with 14 and Brooke Bahlinger with 13. Perkins also had a team-best seven kills. Senior Jesi Wilcox topped Centenary with nine digs while Bahlinger collected eight. Sumner posted a team-best seven kills in 14 attempts in the loss to UT Tyler while Perkins had four in 10 attempts, posting a .300 hitting mark after a single error. Wilcox posted another team-best 12 digs, the only one in double figures. |
