Nelson, Montero lead Centenary at home meet

SHREVEPORT —Chad Nelson and Delilah Montero set the pace for the Centenary runners Saturday morning at the Gator Run, but it was LeTourneau sweeping both the men and women’s college divisions.

Nelson set a personal best running a 17:24 and was fifth out of 40 competitors, just behind the overall winner from LeTourneau (16:34) in the 3.1 mile race (5k). LeTourneau took the top three places while Jones from East Texas Baptist University and Nelson finished out the top five. Miles McDonald sprinted into the top ten placing seventh with a time of 17:32. The Gents took a third-place team finish in their home meet, as the Ladies placed fifth as a team.

Montero shaved three minutes from her previous 5k race, running a 23:59 and placing 10th out of 38 runners. The overall winner was Nicole Leman from LeTourneau pacing herself a minute ahead from the competition with a 19:12.
