SHREVEPORT – Madison Alexander took four shots, two on goal, for Centenary Sunday afternoon, but it was Millsaps Taylor Winslow who found the back of the net twice to ruin the Ladies home opener at Mayo Field, 2-0, in women’s soccer action. Millsaps jumps to 2-1-0 with the road win. Centenary evens its record at 1-1-1 with its first loss of the young season and returns to action Sept. 11 at LeTourneau at 5 p.m. before hosting Wiley College Friday, also at 5 o’clock. Alexander attempted four of the Ladies 11 shots, but couldn’t manage a goal thanks to five saves by Elise Davis. Winslow scored her first goal of the game just before the 11th minute, rebounding a shot by Margaret Eggers, who earned her second assist. Winslow rebounded a shot off the left post, putting Centenary goalie Brittaney Dunn out of position. That allowed Winslow to slide in the five-yarder for the game-winner. Winslow added an insurance goal at 55:27, assisted by Kaleigh Redhead, also her second assist of the year. Winslow doubled her goal total entering Sunday with her third and fourth goals. Millsaps edged Centenary in shots (12-11) and shots on goal (6-5). Winslow and Alexander led all players with four shots apiece. Redhead fired three for the Majors. |
