Shreveport – Michael Kershaw has been named Wide Receivers coach for the Centenary football program, Director of Athletics and Recreation David Orr announced on Wednesday.
Kershaw, a Shreveport native, played Wide Receiver and ran track at Evangel Christian Academy for current Centenary head football coach Byron Dawson, as he helped lead the Eagles to the LHSAA Class 2A State Championship game.
"Michael has always been a hard worker that pays close attention to detail," said Dawson. "He was an overachiever on the field and in the classroom, and he played and coached under some great leaders at LSU."
"He also coached an all-state receiver and a state championship track relay team at Logansport so he has accomplished a lot and we are excited about Michael joining our staff … NOW WE GO!"
He was a member of the LSU football team (2017-18) for two seasons as he made an appearance in the Citrus Bowl and was a student assistant coach on Special Teams when the Tigers won the Fiesta Bowl.
Kershaw spent the past four seasons at Logansport High School as Wide Receivers Coach. In that time coached Jayven Claybrook, an All-State Wide Receiver, who broke the single season school record for catches, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. In 2021, Kershaw helped lead Logansport to a Louisiana Class 1A State Championship appearance.
He also served as the Boys' Head Track Coach for two seasons and had a state champion 4x200 meter relay team and state runner-up 4x100 meter relay team in 2022.
