Men's Basketball Releases 2026-27 Season Schedule
The Centenary men's basketball program has announced its 2026-27 season schedule as the Gents are set to play 25 regular-season games and a pair of exhibition contests under the leadership of second-year head coach J.A. Anglin.
Shreveport – The Centenary men's basketball program has announced its 2026-27 season schedule as the Gents are set to play 25 regular-season games and a pair of exhibition contests under the leadership of second-year head coach J.A. Anglin.
The Gents will begin their regular season on Friday, Nov. 6 against Belhaven University in a non-conference contest set for 6 PM in Jackson, Miss.
Centenary will prep for the regular season with an exhibition against the University of Louisiana Monroe on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at Fant-Ewing Coliseum in Monroe. The Gents' other exhibition game will be against the Lamar University Cardinals on Wednesday, Nov. 11 in Beaumont, Texas. Centenary then faces Millsaps College on the road on Friday, Nov. 13 (6 PM) in Jackson, Miss.
The Gents' first home game is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 17 against East Texas Baptist University (7 PM) and their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest is set for Friday, Dec. 11 against LeTourneau University (7:30 PM) inside the Gold Dome. The Gents are 53-27 at the Gold Dome over the last seven seasons with a pair of double-digit win seasons.
The Gents are scheduled to play 13 home games, 12 road games, and 18 conference contests – nine on the road and nine at home. Centenary's first league game on the road is set for Friday, Dec. 18 against the University of St. Thomas at 7:30 PM in Houston.
Centenary's final home game will be on Saturday, Feb. 6 against Austin College at 6 PM and the Gents will finish the regular season on the road with three straight league contests - at University of the Ozarks (Feb. 12 – 7:30 PM), Hendrix College (Feb. 13 – 6 PM), and LeTourneau University (Feb. 19 – 7:30 PM).
The Gents will play four-straight home games in mid-November through early December, starting with the home opener versus ETBU on Nov. 17. Centenary will face College of Biblical Studies of Houston on Nov. 23 (7:30 PM), Millsaps on Nov. 25 (2 PM), and Belhaven on Dec. 5 at 4 PM. Centenary will face ETBU on Dec. 8 in Marshall, Texas at 7 PM.
The Gents finished 11-16 overall and 8-8 in SCAC play last season in Anglin's debut season and made their 12th all-time appearance in the SCAC Tournament.
The Gents were predicted to finish ninth in the conference last season yet finished second in the league's Blue Division and tied for the fifth-best record in the SCAC.
Centenary, which earned the No. 2 seed in the SCAC's Blue Division, started the season just 1-9 as it made its way through a difficult non-conference schedule. But the Gents went 10-7 the rest of the way which included a six-game winning streak from Jan. 30-Feb. 13. The Gents lost their first six games of the season which included a pair of one-point losses, a three-point loss, and a six-point loss until finally getting in the win column with a 64-62 victory at East Texas Baptist University on Dec. 9.
The Gents defeated Colorado College by a score of 65-53 in the opening game of the 2026 SCAC Tournament on Feb. 27 in Conway, Ark. before falling 64-34 to the nationally-ranked University of St. Thomas Celts in the semifinals.
Centenary, one of the league's top defensive teams this season, allowed the second-fewest points in conference play and in all games (conference and non-conference) during the regular season. The Gents ranked in the top five in the conference in scoring defense, FG % defense and 3-point FG % defense in the regular season. They held 12 opponents to 70 points or less and eight under 65 points this season. Centenary held seven-straight conference opponents to 68 points or less from Jan. 30-Feb. 14.
The 2027 SCAC Tournament will be hosted by Centenary and held at Brookshire Grocery Arena in Bossier City from Feb. 26-28.
