Bio
Jeff Wiese is in his second season as an assistant coach at Centenary College after following head coach J.A. Anglin from Bossier Parish Community College.
The Gents finished the 2025-26 season at 11-16 overall and 8-8 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play and made their 12th all-time appearance in the SCAC Tournament. The Gents were predicted to finish ninth in the conference this season yet finished second in the league's Blue Division and tied for the fifth-best record in the SCAC.
Centenary, which earned the No. 2 seed in the SCAC's Blue Division, started the season just 1-9 as it made its way through a difficult non-conference schedule. But the Gents went 10-7 the rest of the way which included a six-game winning streak from Jan. 30-Feb. 13. The Gents lost their first six games of the season which included a pair of one-point losses, a three-point loss, and a six-point loss until finally getting in the win column with a 64-62 victory at East Texas Baptist University on Dec. 9.
The Gents defeated Colorado College by a score of 65-53 in the opening game of the 2026 SCAC Tournament on Feb. 27 in Conway, Ark. before falling 64-34 to the nationally-ranked University of St. Thomas Celts in the semifinals.
During the 2021-22 season, Wiese assisted the Cavaliers to a 16-14 mark and the program’s first win in the Region XIV tournament. In his first season at BPCC, the Cavaliers won two games against Top 10 ranked opponents. The Cavaliers saw two student-athletes named All-Region XIV. Jaeden Marshall and Derick Hamilton were named first team and honorable mention respectively. Both Marshall (University of Nebraska Omaha) and Hamilton (University of Texas at El Paso) signed NCAA Division 1 scholarships.
During the 2022-23 season, the Cavaliers advanced to the quarterfinals of the Region XIV tournament for the second-consecutive year. Seven student-athletes continued their basketball careers at four-year institutions highlighted by freshman Damani Claxton signing an NCAA Division 1 scholarship to play at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The Cavaliers ranked among Region XIV's best offensively for a second-consecutive season, averaging 79.5 points per game.
In the 2024-25 season, the Cavaliers started the season 9-0 which marked the best start since 2018. The Cavaliers also earned an 87-82 overtime victory over No. 4 Panola College in December, for Anglin’s second career victory over a NJCAA Top 5 opponent. BPCC qualified for the Region XIV tournament for a fifth-straight season.
Wiese previously served as an assistant to legendary north Louisiana high school coaches, Miles Holladay and Chris White. He also served as assistant to Leon Neal, a member of the Missouri Basketball Hall of Fame and a 30-year college coach. Wiese spent time assisting Mike Theus with the Louisiana Select Team Paul Millsap travel team. Theus has run the elite program for 30 years and has had 10 former players reach the NBA.
Wiese started his collegiate career at Southern Arkansas University playing both basketball and baseball for the Muleriders. He later transferred and finished his collegiate career at Centenary College of Louisiana. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Centenary in 1994. Wiese would go on to earn a master's degree in business administration with an emphasis on management from Louisiana Tech University in 1998. Wiese recently spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Bossier Parish Community College.
