The Gents (7-6-1, 3-4-0 SCAC) edged McMurry University 2-1 on Sunday at home in a thrilling comeback win after a disappointing 3-2 loss on Friday against Concordia University. The Pirates (7-2-4, 2-2-3 SCAC) finished in a scoreless tie with the University of St. Thomas at home on Sunday and have tied four times this season and three times in conference play. Southwestern is 2-1-1 on the road this season while Centenary is 4-2-1 at home.
The Gents are in a tie for eighth place in the conference standings with the University of the Ozarks but just 1.5 games behind both Texas Lutheran and Southwestern (tied for 6th place) as the Bulldogs and Pirates are each 2-2-3 in SCAC play. The University of St. Thomas is in fourth place (3-2-2) and Austin College is fifth at 3-3-1. TLU is Centenary's opponent on Sunday in another crucial conference match.
The 2024 SCAC Men's Soccer Tournament will be return to SaberCats Stadium in Houston, Texas - marking the second consecutive year the venue will serve as host of the league's postseason championship event. Semifinal matches are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8 will the championship match contested on Sunday, Nov. 10. The top four teams in the SCAC standings at the conclusion of the regular season will make the tournament.
The Gents have been consistent and impressive on offense all season as they rank in the top five in the league in four team categories – assists (third), goals (fourth), points (third), and shots (fourth) and have outscored their opponents 31-17. Centenary has tallied 28 assists and 13 players have recorded at least one assist this season while 12 have scored at least one goal.
Eight Gents have scored two or more goals led by six from freshman F Nathan Uduojie (Houston, Texas) who also has four assists is tied for seventh in the conference in goals and his team-high 16 points are tied for sixth in the conference. Senior MF Brennan Amato (Denham Springs, La.) has scored four goals and tallied one assist for nine points as he is second on the team in goals and tied for third in points.
Five Gents - senior MF Hunter Booth (Harrodsburg, Ky.), freshman MF Kevin Huskey Jr. (Dallas, Texas), senior F Ron Masti (Houston, Texas), and sophomore F Carter Webb (Flower Mound, Texas), and freshman MF Emiliano Mondragon (Dallas, Texas) have each scored three goals and Mondragon has a team-best six assists which are tied for third in the SCAC. Freshman MF Hayden Hughes (Dallas, Texas) is tied for eighth in the conference with four assists and Huskey Jr. has three.
Sophomore D Hayden McConnell (Flower Mound, Texas) scored his first-career goal in the Gents' 3-1 win over the University of Dallas on the road on Oct. 13 and has been a workhorse all season as a mainstay for the Gents' defense. McConnell has started all 14 matches this season and played all 90 minutes in 12 contests and 75+ in all 14.
Centenary freshman GK Sebastian Lutin (Fort Worth, Texas) leads the conference in saves (74) and owns a goals against average (GAA) of 1.38. The rookie has made 13 starts, owns one shutout, and made a season-high 16 saves at Colorado College on Oct. 6, finishing one save shy of the division III era (2011-present) single-match record of 17. Lutin's 16 saves are the most in a match by a SCAC player all season. Lutin, named the SCAC Men's Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 1, is tied for 33rd in the country in saves, is 45th in saves per game at 5.69, and 79th in save percentage at .804.

Dustin Norman is the head coach of the Pirates and he is in his seventh season.
Southwestern has one player on its roster from Louisiana, sophomore F Townes Wallace from Lafayette.
The Pirates were picked to finish fifth in the SCAC preseason poll, collecting 103 points.
The Gents wrap up the home weekend on Sunday at Noon when they face TLU and will celebrate Senior Day before the match at approximately 11:40 a.m.
