Hunter Hedges Named SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Hedges recorded a pair of individual wins over the weekend at the Hendrix College Mid-Season Invitational. He claimed wins in the 400 IM (4:34.12) and 100 breast (1:02.64) and now has eight wins this season.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior Braden Vincent of Asbury posted two personal bests at the Centre College Speedo Invitational in the 100 free (46.83; moved up to 5th fastest in the conference) and the 100 fly (51.36; 3rd fastest in conference) and a season best time in the 50 free (21.59). Vincent was also on all five relays and played a role in securing a new Asbury school record in the 200 freestyle relay. Sophomore Sam Allen of Colorado College was the team's top point scorer at the Centre Speedo Invite with 83 points. He was in the A final for each one of his individual races and was on all 5 A relays. Allen placed sixth overall in the 100 Back with a new season best of 51.26, 10th in the 200 IM with a new season best 1:54.28 and finished sixth in the 200 Back with a new season best 1:50.76. He also contributed in the 400 Medley relay, 200 Medley relay, 800 Free relay and 400 Free relay. Sophomore James Cotham of Hendrix posted wins in the 500 free with a season-best 4:49.27 and the 200 IM (2:02.00), and finished second in the 200 back. Cotham led off the 1650 free relay (26.40 split) and the 400 free relay (24.20 split; personal best) teams that took home first, and was the second leg of the first place 800 free relay team (51.70 split). Sophomore Wes Scalf of McMurry helped the War Hawks' secure the first A-Final victory of the Trinity Invitational and had several top-10 individual finishes. After a stellar preliminary swim, Scalf touched first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke A-Final with an outstanding time of 56.03. He also finished ninth in the 100 Fly B-Final (51.22). First-year Levi Del Angel of St. Thomas (Tex.) delivered a standout weekend with strong performances in every event he touched. His biggest highlight came in the 200 fly, where he broke the school record with a 1:54.27 to finish third overall. He added a 51.94 in the 100 fly and made major relay contributions in the 200 Free relay, 400 Medley and 200 Medley.
