Men's & Women's Swimming Selected as "Team of the Week"
The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams have been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after they finished off an impressive weekend in the Mid-Season Invitational" hosted by Hendrix College at Bob Courtway Pool in Conway, Ark.
Shreveport – The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams have been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after they finished off an impressive weekend in the Mid-Season Invitational" hosted by Hendrix College at Bob Courtway Pool in Conway, Ark.
The Ladies tallied 459 points and the Gents recorded 797 points as they competed against the host Warriors and University of the Ozarks.
Sophomore Hunter Hedges (Murphy, Texas) recorded a pair of individual wins - in the 400 IM (4:34.12) and 100 breast (1:02.64) and was named the SCAC Men's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday. Hedges, who also finished as runner-up in the 100 back (56.36), now has eight indidual wins this season.
Junior Reece Esser (Huntsville, Texas) continued her impressive season with three individual wins as she won the 50 free (25.11), 100 free (55.47), and 100 fly (59.98) and also finished as runner- up in the 200 back (2:23.18). Esser now has 11 wins this season.
Sophomore Bailey Allemeier (Altus, Okla.) won the 1650 free (19:45.24) and finished as runner-up in the 500 free (5:40.97), sophomore Adam Stelly (Opelousas, La.) won the 200 fly (2:04.78) and was runner-up in the 100 fly (54.22) and freshman Jack Williams (Lafayette, La.) finished second in the 200 free (1:51.85).
Centenary will return to action in the Austin College Invitational on Jan. 10 in Sherman, Texas and will close the regular season at home in a conference tri-meet against Austin College and the University of St. Thomas on Jan. 17 at 1 PM on Senior Day.
The 2026 SCAC Championships are set for Feb. 11-14 in Garland, Texas.
