Men's & Women's Swimming Selected as "Team of the Week"
The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams have been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after they finished off an impressive weekend with a combined score of 242.00 to defeat both Austin College and the University of St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon in a double dual meet inside the Centenary Fitness Center.
Shreveport – The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams have been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after they finished off an impressive weekend with a combined score of 242.00 to defeat both Austin College and the University of St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon in a double dual meet inside the Centenary Fitness Center.
The Maroon and White defeated the Millsaps College Majors by a combined team score of 211-151 in a dual meet on Friday afternoon as the Gents recorded a convincing 133-49 win while the Ladies fell 102-78. Saturday marked the final home appearance of the season for the Ladies and Gents.
Freshman Hunter Hedges (Murphy, Texas) had an impressive weekend for the Gents as he tallied five individual wins and was a member of two 200-yard medley relay teams. Hedges claimed multiple wins in the 200 IM (2:05.54 & 2:06.46), 100-yard butterfly (56.51 & 55.28), and one in the100-yard breaststroke (1:03.50).
Sophomore Hannah Waddell (Shreveport, La.) continued her sensational season this weekend as she also recorded five individual wins. Waddell, who now has a whopping 19 individual wins this season, was also a member of the Ladies' winning 200-free relay team. The sophomore claimed multiple wins in the 200 IM (2:19.66 & 2:23.30), 100-yard breaststroke (109.89 & 1:11.82), and one in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.70).
Centenary will finish the season next month in the annual SCAC Championships meet set for Feb. 12-15 in Garland, Texas.
