Welcome to this week's Gym Talk! I am incredibly happy to be back on campus and I am really excited to begin a fresh start with my awesome teammates! We have four new freshmen on the team this year, which means we have a total of 16 gymnasts! Welcome to the team, Jenny, Sierra, Dorothy, and Jerrica! Cannot wait to see what will be in store for you all in your first year! As for the rest of the team, I cannot wait for you all to experience another year of being a college gymnast! It is going to be epic!
This week, the team members who made the Dean's List, had a celebration dinner at Texas Road House. This is something Coach rewards us with after each semester to recognize us for putting in the work where our academics are concerned. We got to celebrate with Centenary President and Mrs. Holoman, alongside with our awesome team builder, Shelly McMillian! What an honor to have the President and his wife take time out of their busy schedules. Thank you for joining us in celebrating our accomplishments!
The upper classmen got the whole team together Thursday to discuss team standards, expectations, and to help the freshman know what the whole school year will look like for us! We have also been getting together with our teammates and going to the Fit center on campus to do some conditioning, as well as going to the track last Friday! Woohoo! Our team set a goal last spring to run the mile in under 7 minutes and 30 seconds when we returned to campus. For those who are injured and cannot run, they will walk 2.5 miles with a goal of under 37 minutes. We wanted to have motivation over the summer to help us stay fit; so next week we will be pushing ourselves and our teammates to hit our goal! We can do this, Ladies! I believe in each and every one of you!
Kaity and I are seniors this year and we are both excited to finish our fourth and final year in the sport of gymnastics! We are both ready to take on pre-season with some of the most talented, beautiful, and dedicated young ladies who we call teammates! Let's start off strong Ladies!
