Gents Set To Tee Off In 2022 Rhodes Spring Invitational
The Centenary men’s golf team will compete in the 2022 Rhodes Spring Invitational on Sunday and Monday at Mirimichi Golf Club.
Millington, Tenn. – The Centenary men's golf team will compete in the 2022 Rhodes Spring Invitational on Sunday and Monday at Mirimichi Golf Club.
The two-day event hosted by Rhodes College features 36 holes of play on Sunday followed by the final 18 holes on Monday. The Gents and host Lynx are joined by Belhaven, Brescia University, Centre College, the University of Dallas, Hendrix, John A. Logan College, LeTourneau, and Millsaps. The teams will play a par-72, 6,987-yard layout.

The Gents earned a runner-up finish in their annual home tournament, the Hal Sutton Invitational, on March 22 at The Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City. It was an abbreviated event as severe weather and heavy rain made the course unplayable on day two, thus the men's field completed 27 of their scheduled 54 holes. The Gents shot a 28-over par 460 to finish eight shots behind tournament champion Blinn College (20-over par 452). Centenary shot a 24-over par 312 total on Monday and a 4-over par 148 in the shortened second round (nine holes).
The Gents' lineup for the event will be sophomore Ricky Blair (Bossier City, La.), sophomore Drew Bennett (Bossier City, La.), junior Richard Polan (Brno, Czech Republic), junior Devan Martin (Watson, La.), and senior Harrison John (Lafayette, La.). Freshman Tyler Jones (Stonewall, La.) will play as an individual. Blair recorded the Gents' top finish at the Hal Sutton as he shot a 4-over par 112 to tie for fourth place. Blair shot a 6-over 78 in the opening round. Bennett and Polan each earned top-20 finishes. Bennett shot a 5-over par 77 in the first round and a 3-over 39 in the second round. Polan rebounded from a an 8-over 80 with a 2-over 38 in his final nine holes. Martin tied for 27th place after a first-round 5-over par 77 and a 10-over 46 in the second-round nine holes. John tied for 36th place after an 18-over par 90 in round one followed by a 1-over par 37. Jones shot a 149 to finish 51st.
