The Ladies (2-19, 2-10 SCAC) split a pair of conference games last weekend at home, defeating Southwestern 59-50 on Friday and falling 75-50 to Texas Lutheran on Sunday, which was the Ladies' Senior Day and final home game of the season. Dallas enters Friday's game at 8-11 overall and 4-7 in SCAC play. The Crusaders won the first meeting between the two teams, 68-44, on Dec. 30 at the Gold Dome.
Dallas is 1-6 in its last seven games and 4-5 on its home court this season while Centenary is 0-11 (0-9 road/0-2 neutral) away from home this season. The Crusaders lead the all-time series with the Ladies 15-8. Dallas enters Friday's play in sixth place in the conference standings while Centenary is eighth.
The Ladies are currently fifth in the SCAC in free throw percentage (66.4 %) and are an impressive 82.6 % over the last three games and have shot 62.5 % or better in seven-straight games. The Ladies also rank in the top five in the conference in rebounding offense (4th place, averaging 42.0/game), 3-point field goal % defense (5th, holding opposition to just 28.9 %), and steals (5th – averaging 10.2/game).
Sophomore G Alana Jones (Shreveport, La.) is currently the SCAC's second-leading rebounder averaging 8.4 boards per game. She recorded a double-double to lead the Ladies in scoring and rebounding on Sunday versus TLU with 14 points and 10 rebounds. She played 39 minutes and was 5-8 from the floor, 2-2 from beyond the arc, and 2-2 from the free throw line. She added four steals and a blocked shot as she has now reached double figures seven times, grabbed 10 or more rebounds in a game eight times, and has five double-doubles. Jones is also tied for 22nd in the league in scoring (8.3 PPG).
Sophomore G Dymon Drumgo (Alexandria, La.) joined her in double figures with 10 points in her 24 minutes off the bench. Drumgo, averaging 8.8 PPG this season which is second-most on the team, was 2-8 overall and 6-9 at the FT line. She added a pair of assists and a rebound and reached double figures for the ninth time, with seven coming in conference play. Drumgo has scored in double figures in four-straight games and in five of her last six. She is tied for 16th in the league in rebounding at 4.8/game. Freshman G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.) and freshman F Kyra Stokes (Shreveport, La.) each scored seven points and freshman G Brailey Major (Opelousas, La.) added six.
Barrow, the Ladies' leading scorer this season at 9.3 PPG, played 34 minutes and was 5-6 at the FT line with four steals, two rebounds and an assist. Barrow is the Ladies' top shooter this season at 41.5 % which is also 11th-best in the conference. Stokes grabbed six rebounds and added two steals and a blocked shot in 24 minutes and was 7-8 at the FT line. Major played 32 minutes and hit a pair of treys with two rebounds and a steal.
Barrow and Jones are each in the top five in the league in FT % as Barrow is at 77.2 % and Jones shoots 76.5 %. Jones is in the top 12 in assists, blocked shots, minutes played, steals, and both defensive and offensive rebounds. Drumgo ranks in the top 15 in the league in both defensive rebounds and steals.
Despite the Ladies' struggles this season, they have held 10 of their 21 opponents to 70 points or less in a game this season and five to 65 or fewer.
The Ladies complete the weekend on Saturday, Feb. 4 at Austin College (4 PM) in Sherman, Texas. Centenary defeated the 'Roos 68-62 in Shreveport on Dec. 31.
