Gents Set To Face Tigers On Friday Night At Home

The Gents (3-4-2, 1-1 SCAC) split a pair of SCAC matches on the road last weekend on the opening weekend of league play as they recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over the McMurry University War Hawks and then fell 4-0 at Schreiner University on Sunday in Kerrville, Texas.
The Tigers (5-0-3, 2-0 SCAC) opened conference play at home last weekend with a pair of shutouts – 3-0 against the University of Ozarks and 7-0 against Hendrix College. The Tigers have pitched five-consecutive shutouts and six this season and the last goal they allowed was on Sept. 4 at home against Whitman in a 2-2 tie.
Centenary is 2-0-1 at home this season while Colorado College is 0-0-1 on the road. The Tigers lead the all-time series 19-3-1 and have won four in a row following a 2-0 victory last season in Colorado Springs, Colo. Friday's match will be the Gents' first appearance at home since a 1-0 win over Lyon College on Sept. 7.
Senior GK Sam Brocato (Leesville, La.) is second in the conference in shutouts (3) and ranks second in saves (38) and is tied for 38th nationally in division III in shutouts. Tigers' GK Alex Wolter leads the conference in shutouts (6) and is tied for third in the country.
Along with a matchup of two outstanding goalkeepers, Friday is a showcase of the conference's top two offensive teams as the Tigers have scored a league-leading 21 goals and the Gents are second with 18. Colorado College's 22 assists lead the conference and Centenary is tied for third with nine. The Tigers are first in points (64) and the Gents are second with 45.
Senior F Connor Buche (College Station, Texas), sophomore D Dylan Clark (Allen, Texas), junior F Carter Webb (Flower Mound, Texas), and junior F Fernando Santos (Bridgeport, Texas) are all tied for the team lead in goals with two each and nine players have scored one goal each - senior F Gabriel Aragon (Forney, Texas), junior D Aidan Miller (Keller, Texas), junior D Aaron Gonzales (Atascocita, Texas), freshman MF Joseph LeBoeuf (DeRidder, La.), junior Marco Zavala (Choluteca, Honduras), freshman MF Matthew Hebert (Lafayette, La.), sophomore F Jesse Lang (Austin, Texas), junior MF Jacob Ramsey (Baton Rouge, La.), and senior MF Brandon Guevara (Henderson, Texas).
Ramsey is the team leader in assists (3) and is tied for third in the conference and six Gents have one each – Guevara, Lang, freshman MF Marco Peterson (Bedford, Texas), freshman D Aaron Thornley (Henderson, Texas), freshman D/MF Bevan Flanagan (Murphy, Texas), and freshman D Benjamin Ascuncion-Crabb (Belton, Texas). Ramsey leads the team in points with seven and four are tied for second in points with four – Buche, Clark, Santos and Webb.
Colorado College was the favorite in the preseason conference poll while Centenary was picked to finish eighth. The Tigers, last season's co-regular season champions, have notched back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since 2002, and have not dropped a conference contest since October 2021.
The 2025 SCAC Men's Soccer Tournament, which returns to a six-team format for the first time since the 2020-21 COVID-19 shortened season, will be held the first week of November at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas. Quarterfinal matches will be contested on Thursday, Nov. 6, the semifinal matches on Friday, Nov. 7 and the championship match will be played Sunday, Nov. 9.
The Gents will complete the home weekend with another SCAC contest on Sunday at NOON versus the University of Dallas Crusaders.
