Gents Blanked At Home By Hendrix 3-0
The Centenary men's soccer team had its season-best winning streak snapped at four as the Gents were blanked by the Hendrix College Warriors 3-0 on Sunday afternoon in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at Atkins Field.

The Gents (7-6-2, 5-3 SCAC) suffered their first loss since falling 3-1 to Colorado College at home on Oct. 3. The Warriors improved to 6-7-2 and 5-2-1 in conference play with Sunday's win. Centenary, which recorded a 2-0 shutout victory over the University of the Ozarks Eagles on Friday night in their annual Senior Night contest, has still outscored its last four opponents 15-5 and are 5-2-1 at home this season.
The match was scoreless until late in the first half when Caleb Nichols scored an unassisted goal to make it 1-0, recording his first goal of the season. Just before the end of the first half, at the 39:00 mark, Conner Smith scored to make it 2-0. Josh Montgomery then scored his seventh goal of the season in the 74th minute, assisted by Ayden Putnam, to extend the Warrior lead to 3-0.
Senior GK Casey Clemo (Forney, Texas) started for the Gents and allowed two goals in his 45 minutes with three saves and senior GK Sam Brocato (Leesville, La.) relieved Clemo and played the second half, allowing one goal and making three saves. Gregorio Medina Armas started in goal for the Warriors and played the first 83:10 and made a pair of saves. Kasey Lauderdale relieved him and played the final 6:50.
Hendrix finished with a 19-12 advantage in shots, the Gents held the edge in corner kicks 9-3, and the teams were whistled for 13 fouls- seven on Centenary and six on Hendrix.
Centenary is fighting for a berth into next month's conference tournament as the 2025 SCAC Men's Soccer Tournament returns to a six-team format for the first time since the 2020-21 COVID-19 shortened season. The tournament will be held the first week of November at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas. Quarterfinal matches will be contested on Thursday, Nov. 6, the semifinal matches on Friday, Nov. 7 and the championship match will be played Sunday, Nov. 9.
The Gents, picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll, are currently alone in fourth place in the conference standings, have accumulated 15 points, and their five wins are tied for the second-most in the league with the Warriors and Colorado College (5-0-3).
Centenary returns to action next weekend with a road contest on Friday at Texas Lutheran on Friday at 7 PM in Seguin, Texas and will wrap up the weekend with their home finale next Sunday versus Concordia University at 2 PM.
