Shreveport – The Centenary softball team is in the midst of one of its most successful seasons in the division III era, but the Ladies are not just achieving success on the field.
The softball program is annually one of the college's top academic teams and this season is no different. The Ladies had a 3.36 team GPA for the Fall semester with six players boasting a perfect 4.0 GPA. Four of the six are seniors and 11 players were named to the Dean's List and seven are seniors.
The 2026 senior class, the largest of the D3 era (2012-present), have shined all season long in the classroom and on the field and throughout their impressive careers. The nine seniors - Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.), Abigail Hodgson (Florence, Texas), Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.), Laine Sullivan (Prairieville, La.), Jaeden Thrasher (Forney, Texas), Alexis Roach (Pineville, La.), River Boultinghouse (Saint Gabriel, La.), Morgan Dawson (Natchitoches, La.), and Riley Myers (Shreveport, La.) were honored in a postgame ceremony on April 11 at the Centenary Softball Complex.
The nine Ladies have combined for a multitude of prestigious honors such as being named Easton/NFCA Division III All-America Scholar-Athletes, named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Softball Team, the SCAC Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll, and SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Three seniors have been named All-SCSAC in their career.
The Ladies have 14 conference wins this season, the most in a single season in the D3 era and still have six regular-season games remaining. Centenary finishes the regular season on the road, beginning this weekend with a three-game series against the nationally-ranked University of St. Thomas Celts in Houston.
The Ladies (16-16, 14-10 SCAC) and Celts (24-7, 22-2 SCAC) begin their series with a DH on Friday at 6 PM and finish on Saturday with a single game at NOON. St. Thomas is ranked 13th in the current NFCA/GoRout Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Ladies will finish their regular season next weekend at the University of the Ozarks
The 2026 SCAC Softball Tournament will be held May 1-3 in Abilene, Texas and hosted by McMurry University. The top six teams in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the event. The Ladies are in fourth place in the standings. The Ladies, picked to finish fifth in the conference preseason poll, have now made nine-consecutive SCAC Tournament appearances.
