Golf Teams Tee Off In SCAC Championships On Sunday

The Centenary men's and women's golf teams tee off in the 2026 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday at Hawks Creek Golf Club.

The University of Dallas is the designated host school for the three-day event. Centenary is joined by the host Crusaders, Concordia University, Hendrix College, LeTourneau University, McMurry University, Schreiner University, Texas Lutheran University, and the University of St. Thomas. The field, both men and women, will play one round each day as each will play a total of 54 holes over three days.

The championships are set to tee off on Sunday at 9:30 AM. The men will be tested by a par-72, 6,898-yard course while the women will face a par-72, 6,040-yard course.

The Ladies and Gents will play at Hawks Creek Golf Club for the second time this season after their previous visit for the SCAC Fall Preview back in October. The Gents shot a 36-over par 612 to finish in eighth while the Ladies finished sixth at 123-over par 699.

The Gents finished ninth at last season's event held in Whitney, Texas as they shot a 114-over par 978. The Ladies finished seventh after shooting a 307-over par 1,171.

LAST TIME OUT: The Gents shot a 91-over par 955 to finish seventh in the West Region Invitational on April 14 at White Bluff Golf Resort Lake Whitney, Texas. The Ladies shot a 94-over par 670 to finish in fourth place in the Linda Lowery Invitational on March 24 in Round Rock, Texas.

Junior Aubrey Snell (Shreveport, La.) had the Gents' top finish in the West Region Invitational as he tied for 13^th place at 10-over par 226 (76-75-75) to earn his fifth top-15 finish of the season. Snell has finished in the top 10 four times this season and tied for 17^th at the SCAC Championships last season. As a rookie he finished third in the 2024 SCAC Championships and was named the 2024 SCAC Freshman of the Year.

Senior Jeffrey Borchert (Katy, Texas) and freshman Trey Bishop (Oklahoma City, Okla.) tied for 29^th place (23-over par 239), freshman Mason Wiener (Holland, Pa.) finished 36^th at 35-over 251, senior Colton Mayer (Heath, Texas) tied for 37^th place (62-over 278) and senior Parker Christensen (Castle Rock, Colo.) shot a 75-over 291.

Sophomore Haylee Crowder (Haughton, La.) led the way for the Ladies in the Linda Lowery Invitational as she earned a tie for fifth place after shooting a 14-over par 158. She shot a career-low 77 in round one and followed that with a 9-over par 81. Crowder has now tied for fifth place twice this season after doing so at the SCAC Fall Preview in October, which was the first top-five finish of her career. She now owns three top-10 finishes and nine top-20 finishes. She had the Ladies' best finish, a tie for 25^th, at last season's SCAC Championships.

Freshman Gracie Evans (Lake Charles, La.) finished in a tie for 20^th place at 23-over par 167 (81-86) and sophomore Amber Shaw (Hughes Springs, Texas) finished at 27-over par 171 (86-85) to tie for 25^th place. Evans' 81 in the first round was her lowest round of the season.

Junior Jordyn Templeton (Columbus, Texas) finished 33^rd at 33-over par 177 (85-92) as her 85 was a career-low round and freshman Zoe Garcia (Magnolia, Texas) shot an 84-over par 228 (115-113) to finish 46^th. Junior Mya Thompson (South Jordan, Utah) shot an 11-over 83 in round one but withdrew on Tuesday and did not record a final score.
