Hey hey, it is sophomore Lacey Wedge with your weekly gym talk. Hope everyone's week is going great! HAPPY LATE HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! Hope it was super spooky. We have a couple of amazing topics to talk about this week for our LADIES!!!
Let's get started shall we?
The LADIES have had a lot of outstanding accomplishments through this week! Freshman Rylie Molina had shoulder surgery this summer and she is slowly coming back with starting to hang on the bars, and do some tumbling and beam work and is slowly starting to put pressure on her shoulder. Sophomore Rose Deshler started twisting vaults and working on perfecting her landings. Sophomore Taylor Wilson started flipping her new vault this week and it is looking great! Senior Jerrica Harris pushed herself a lot this week and stood up her full in on floor level mats. I am so proud of these LADIES and how hard they pushed themselves to be better every day!!
As you know last week was Halloween. Saturday the LADIES celebrated Halloween at the spooky haunted Jill's gym. The LADIES got dressed up and entered the spooky house. The lights were off, the smoke was on, and we escaped the house. Our assistant coach Wendy jumped out and scared us as Red Riding Hood. The LADIES practice was Tricks for Treats. There were goals set for the team and if you accomplished them you earned points. Also, there was a bonus section that earned even more points. Every 50 points you were able to get a small treat and if you achieved the 300 points you were able to get a big treat. The LADIES were on a roll and got a lot of goals accomplished.
Sunday was the sophomore's day to do their class skit. The sophomore LADIES put in a lot of practice and hours to make it the best skit they could. We went out with a bang and made it a funny and entertaining skit for the all who attended.
On Sunday the LADIES had their first practice intra-squad to get ready for the meet season to come. First, for the vault shakers there was a lot of improvement on landings and upgraded vaults. Moving onto the bar stars the LADIES caught 30 releases in 15 mins. These LADIES did not give up and pushed themselves to stay determined and that is what they did! The strength and fight in these LADIES was on point in every turn they took.
Moving over to our beam queen group, the LADIES put full beam routines together and trusted their skills along with their abilities. These beam routines were sharp, clean, and confident. Lastly, the floor roars fought to the end. The LADIES are getting their endurance up for those full routines! Everyone was very intentional about their gymnastics and put everything they had out on the table. Some people got out of their comfort zone and pushed themselves harder to be better.
There was a lot of high energy throughout the day and everyone really came together to make our team better as a whole. Nobody was left behind and everyone contributed in their own way. Everyone was happy and cheering for their teammates. As a team we have been really great at motivating each other and letting our teammates know we believe in them. If your team believes in you then you have all the power to believe in yourself.
This team is UNSTOPPABLE. There is always an urge to be better and these LADIESSS have been fighting through every obstacle that comes in their way.
Hope you enjoyed this week's gym talk, stay tuned for next weeks sophomore Taylor Ann Wilson as she will fill you in on our newest updates.
Ta Ta for now,
Lacey
