Ladies Fall At Home To McMurry, 3-0

Shreveport - The Centenary women's soccer team fell 3-0 to the McMurry University War Hawks in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Sunday afternoon at Atkins Field.
The Ladies (3-9-2, 1-5-0 SCAC) went winless during the weekend after dropping a 2-0 decision on Friday night to Concordia University. Centenary is now 3-4 at home this season. McMurry (8-5-1, 4-1-1 SCAC) is now 5-5 on the road this season.
McMurry scored quickly with a goal in the third minute as Emily Holland found the net with the assist going to Haylie Blakely. Holland scored again in the seventh minute as Jaelynn Portillo assisted to make it 2-0. Cate Templemeyer made it 3-0 just over five minutes later with Portillo assisting.
Sophomore GK Kaniyah Hill (Tyler, Texas) started and played the first half and recorded three saves and was replaced by sophomore GK/MF Zoe Keller (Waggaman, La.) who played the second half and made two saves.
Senior MF/D Desiree Rodriguez (Forney, Texas) was recognized in a special pregame ceremony and the rest of the Ladies' senior class will be honored next Friday as Centenary faces Southwestern University in SCAC play at 7:30 p.m. for it final home match of the season.
McMurry also played a pair of goalkeepers as Avery Anders started and played the first half and did not record a save. Nana Torres played the final 45 minutes and made a pair of saves.
The War Hawks finished with a 19-3 advantage in shots and took 10 corner kick to the Ladies' one. McMurry was whistled for seven fouls and Centenary picked up three.
