Gents Set To Face Colorado College On Senior Day
The Centenary lacrosse team will face the Colorado College Tigers on Sunday in its annual Senior Day game as the contest between the two Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) members is set for 11 a.m. at Mayo Field.

Centenary will honor its three seniors – MF Dario Garcia (Dallas, Texas), D Ethan Little (Tyler, Texas), and LSM/FO Tripp Montgomery (New Iberia, La.) in a postgame ceremony which will be streamed. Sunday is also "Breast Cancer Education and Awareness" Day at Mayo Field and fans are encouraged to support Zeta Tau Alpha sorority's philanthropy by purchasing raffle tickets for a variety of outstanding prizes. The Centenary dance team will also perform and a reminder to wear your pink.
The Gents (2-6, 0-1 HCLC) and Tigers (3-7, 0-0 HCLC) are former members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and are meeting for the second-consecutive season after the Tigers recorded a pair of wins last season over the Gents. Centenary enters Sunday's match riding a two-game winning streak while Colorado College is coming off of a 19-14 win at Southwestern on Saturday.
Centenary defeated the Earlham College Quakers 11-7 on March 27 in Richmond, Ind. in its most recent game following a 12-11 victory the day before over the Anderson University Ravens, 12-11, in Anderson, Ind. Centenary led 6-1 at halftime and 8-4 entering the fourth quarter against Earlham. Each team scored three goals in the final period but the Gents were able to maintain their lead after a big first half to secure the victory. The Maroon and White scored 10 or more goals in a game for the fifth time in eight games and for the third game in a row.
The Gents swept the HCLC Player of the Week honors on March 29 following the two road wins, as sophomore M/A Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) was named Offensive POW and Little was named Defensive POW.
Cook continued his impressive offensive season as he scored eight goals and added four assists for a total of 12 points. He totaled 18 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers in games against Kalamazoo, Anderson, and Earlham. Cook scored five goals against Anderson, and then had two goals and two assists versus Earlham. The sensational sophomore now has 18 goals, seven assists, 25 points, 27 ground balls, and 17 caused turnovers this season. Cook recorded his fourth multi-goal performance of the season and seventh of his young career.
Little had a fantastic week as he totaled 11 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. The seven goals the Gents allowed in Saturday's win is the fewest yielded by the Centenary defense all season. He has started all eight of Centenary's games this season and has recorded 23 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.
Freshman A G'Colby Spivey (Dallas, Texas) and junior A John Mark Waniewski (Bossier City, La.) each scored four goals to lead the Gents' offense in the Earlham win and Cook added a pair. Spivey recorded his fourth multi-goal performance of the season and third in a row. He scored three goals in the win over Anderson and scored a season-high four against Kalamazoo on March 22. He took five shots, all on goal, and had four ground balls.
Waniewski scored a single-game season-high four goals and turned in his second multi-goal effort of the season. He finished with nine shots, six on goal, and had one ground ball. Cook, like Waniewski, finished with nine shots and six on goal, and had five ground balls and a team-best six caused turnovers. Freshman A Braxton Parchman (Shreveport, La.) had a team-high three assists and added two caused turnovers and a ground ball.
Junior M/A Kyle Comi (Allen, Texas) had five ground balls, two caused turnovers, three shots (two on goal), and an assist. Montgomery had five ground balls, Garcia had two ground balls and a caused turnover, and sophomore LSM Jackson Ossman (Shreveport, La.) added three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Freshman D Barrett Stewart (Boerne, Texas) had five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Sophomore D Matthew Lulich (New Orleans, La.) added four ground balls. Junior D Chris Dant (Bossier City, La.) had a team-high seven ground balls, a caused turnover, and took shots (one on goal). Freshman GK Alex Nicks-Davis (Nashville, Tenn.) played all 60 minutes and picked up his second win of the season as he recorded six saves and had three ground balls.
