Ladies Blanked By Blazers In Season Opener
The Centenary women's soccer team was blanked 5-0 by the Belhaven University Blazers in its season opener and a non-conference contest on Friday afternoon inside Belhaven Bowl Stadium.

Jackson, Miss. - The Centenary women's soccer team was blanked 5-0 by the Belhaven University Blazers in its season opener and a non-conference contest on Friday afternoon inside Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
The Ladies (0-1) fell behind the Blazers (1-0) by a score of 2-0 at halftime and the Green and Gold added three more goals in the second half to cruise to the season-opening win. Centenary still leads the all-time series with Belhaven, 4-2-1.
The Blazers struck early for their first goal as Lauren Snell found the net, assisted by Micah Benson, just 4:24 in the match for a 1-0 lead. Roughly four minutes later, a team goal following a corner kick made it 2-0. Benson scored goal number three, assisted by Emma Antonoplos, just over a minute into the second period for a 3-0 lead. Snell scored again, an unassisted goal, at the 52:10 mark for a 4-0 lead and Jensen Ward's goal at the 60:26 mark, assisted by Snell, made it 5-0.
Freshman GK Gracie Rellin (Haughton, La.) made her collegiate debut in goal for the Ladies and played all 90 minutes as the rookie made seven saves. The Blazers played a pair of keepers as Ella Field started and picked up the win as she made one save in her 45 minutes of action. Addi Roberts played the second half and made two saves.
Belhaven finished with a 21-4 advantage in shots, took six corner kicks to one for Centenary, and had 11 shots on goal. The teams were whistled for 13 total fouls - seven on Centenary and six on Belhaven.
The Ladies return to action on Sunday for their home opener against Howard Payne University in a non-conference contest set for NOON at Atkins Field.
