Women's Soccer Selected as "Team of the Week"
The Centenary women's soccer team has been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after the Ladies blanked the Millsaps College Majors 1-0 in a non-conference contest last Friday at home as the they recorded their first victory of the season.
Shreveport - The Centenary women's soccer team has been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after the Ladies blanked the Millsaps College Majors 1-0 in a non-conference contest last Friday at home as the they recorded their first victory of the season.
A late goal by senior D/MF Kylie Zeller (Denham Springs, La.) gave the Ladies their first win of the season and she and the Centenary defense did the rest to post a shutout- the Maroon and White's first of the season. Freshman F/MF Morgan Stancliff (Pensacola, Fla.) made her second start of the season and tallied seven saves in her 90 minutes.
The Ladies were locked in a scoreless battle with Millsaps until deep in the second half when Zeller rifled a laser into the back of the net in the 81st minute for a 1-0 lead. The goal was Zeller's second of the season, sixth of her career, and second-career game-winning goal.
The Ladies conclude a seven-match homestand on Tuesday night as they face the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in a non-conference contest set for 7 PM at Atkins Field.
