Swimming Teams Back In Action On Saturday In Austin College Invitational
The Centenary swimming teams return to action on Saturday as the Ladies and Gents are set to compete in the Austin College Invitational inside Hannah Natatorium.
Sherman, Texas - The Centenary swimming teams return to action on Saturday as the Ladies and Gents are set to compete in the Austin College Invitational inside Hannah Natatorium.
Centenary's most recent action was in the "Mid-Season Invitational" hosted by Hendrix College Nov. 21-23 in Conway, Ark. The Ladies tallied 459 points to place third and the Gents recorded 797 points, good for a second-place finish, as they competed against the host Warriors and University of the Ozarks. Hendrix won the meet (1810 points) followed by Ozarks (1542 points) as Centenary finished third with a combined team points total of 1256.
Junior Reece Esser (Huntsville, Texas) continued her impressive season with three individual wins as she won the 50 free (25.11), 100 free (55.47), and 100 fly (59.98) and also finished as runner- up in the 200 back (2:23.18). Esser now has 11 wins this season. Sophomore Hunter Hedges (Murphy, Texas) recorded a pair of individual wins - in the 400 IM (4:34.12) and 100 breast (1:02.64) and now has eight this season. He was also runner-up in the 100 back (56.36) and third in the 200 IM (2:06.09).
Sophomore Bailey Allemeier (Altus, Okla.) won the 1650 free (19:45.24) and was runner-up in the 500 free (5:40.97) while sophomore Adam Stelly (Opelousas, La.) won the 200 fly (2:04.78) and was runner-up in the 100 fly (54.22). Freshman Jack Williams (Lafayette, La.) was runner-up in the 200 free (1:51.85), third in the 50 free (22.98), and finished fourth in the 100 back (1:03.48).
Sophomore Parker Randolph (Shreveport, La.) finished third in both the 400 IM (4:51.90) and 200 fly (2:09.86) and junior Cicely Jackson (Lafayette, La.) finished fourth in the 200 fly (2:35.90) and fourth in the 500 free (5:50.73). Sophomore Isabela Vasquez (Lafayette, La.) recorded a pair of third-place finishes in the 200 breast (2:44.72) and 100 breast (1:16.16).
Saturday marks the fifth meet of the season for Centenary after a pair of meets in October against McMurry University on the road, a home meet against the University of the Ozarks, and November's weekend meet in Conway, Ark.
Centenary will celebrate Senior Day next Saturday for its final home meet of the season, as the Maroon and White welcome Austin College and the University of St. Thomas At 1 PM inside the Centenary Fitness Center.
