Cicely has found her home at Centenary College. The junior from Lafayette, La. is very active on campus and in the community as she thrives while balancing an extremely busy schedule.
"I served as a Student Government Association senator for three years, where I've been active on committees that helped improve campus facilities, funded student-led trips, and organized events to increase campus engagement," said Jackson. "I've been directly involved in the organization and execution of projects like Homecoming and Centenary appreciation week, upgrading the fitness center, and writing resolutions to help fund student-led trips to national academic conferences. Last academic year, I was nominated for and received the "Bullet Award" for my work on the institutional affairs committee."
"I am also an active member of Chi Omega sorority and currently serve as Personnel Chair on the executive board. Through Chi Omega, I have participated in Wish Week, our philanthropy benefiting Make-A-Wish. I've participated in multiple fundraising and awareness events, including selling mud-bug tickets, face painting at Flying Heart, Pie-a-Chi-O, and selling Make-A-Wish buttons. These efforts supported our Make-A-Wish kid, Blake, whose wish was recently granted."
"In addition, I volunteered 20 hours last spring at a local pre-school and retirement home. At the pre-school, I assisted with playtime and learning activities. At the retirement home, I spent time visiting with residents and helping with activities like bingo and cornhole. I also serve as a Residential Assistant, where I support approximately 40 residents and work with campus resources to create programs that promote community and student well-being."
"Swimming has taught me discipline, resilience, and perseverance. Training happens early in the morning and late in the evening, regardless of motivation or circumstances. Through swimming, I've learned that success often comes from showing up and putting in the work even when it's difficult. When faced with challenges, swimming has taught me to push through obstacles rather than back down, a mindset that has carried over into my academics and leadership roles."
"My favorite thing about Centenary is the abundance of opportunities and the strong sense of community. The campus encourages students to get involved, take initiative, and be the change they want to see. I value the close relationships I've developed with peers, professors, administrators, and especially my coaches." "Centenary's fast paced and engaging atmosphere has definitely challenged me to pursue roles I once thought I wasn't capable of handling."
