Men's & Women's Swimming Selected as "Team of the Week"
The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams have been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after they completed their home schedule this past Saturday in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference double dual meet against Austin College and the University of St. Thomas.
Shreveport – The Centenary men's and women's swimming teams have been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after they completed their home schedule this past Saturday in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference double dual meet against Austin College and the University of St. Thomas.
The Ladies tallied six individual wins and two men's swimmers, Daniel Lewis (Alexandria, La.) and Ubaldo Ayala (Hallsville, Texas) were honored on Senior Day inside the Centenary Fitness Center. The Ladies defeated Austin College by a score of 90-57 and St. Thomas 103-63 while the Gents were defeated by Austin 114-65 and UST 143-40.
Junior Reece Esser (Huntsville, Texas) continued her impressive season with three individual wins to lead the Ladies. Esser picked up her wins in the 50 free (25.76), 100 fly (1:02.40), and 100 back (1:05.89). Esser, who now owns 16 wins this season, was named the SCAC Women's Swimmer of the Week on Monday.
Sophomore Bailey Allemeier (Altus, Okla.) tallied wins in both the 200 free (2:12.99) and 500 free (5:54.76), and sophomore Isabela Vasquez (Lafayette, La.) won the 100 breast (1:16.30) and was runner-up in the 200 IM (2:40.00). She also recorded third-place finishes in the 50 free (28.88) and 100 back (1:12.94). Junior Cicely Jackson (Lafayette, La.) was runner-up in the 100 back (1:12.83) and fourth in both the 100 fly (1:10.52) and 500 free (6:07.78). Allemeier, Esser, Jackson, and Vasquez finished second in the 200- yard medley relay as they swam a time of 2:05.05.
Freshman Anna Hicks (Lafayette, La.) finished fourth in the 200 IM (2:41.90) and sixth in the 100 breast (1:25.12), and junior Kennadi St. Clair (Duncanville, Texas) finished third in both the 50 free (29.98) and 100 free (1:05.76) and seventh in the 100 breast (1:31.39).
On the men's side, sophomore Adam Stelly (Opelousas, La.) finished third in the 200 free (1:52.78) and also placed third in the 100 fly (56.79) while freshman Jack Williams (Lafayette, La.) finished fifth in the 50 free (23.74), fifth in the 100 free (54.36), and seventh in the 100 back (1:08.04). Sophomore Parker Randolph (Shreveport, La.) placed fourth in the 500 free (5:33.77) and sixth in the 100 free (57.13).
Sophomore Cade Campbell (Ruston, La.) finished sixth in the 500 free (6:09.81) and seventh in the 100 free (57.44), sophomore Jordan Jerrigan (Temple, Texas) finished fifth in the 500 free (6:00.84) and sixth in the 100 fly (59.32), while freshman George Arrona (Harlingen, Texas) finished 10th in the 100 breast (1:28.00).
Ayala's best finish of the meet was sixth in the 200 IM (2:22.97) followed by an eighth-place finish in the 100 back (1:10.61) and a ninth-place finish in the 100 breast (1:12.03). Lewis finished fifth in both the 200 free (2:06.41) and 100 back (1:03.60) and ninth in the 100 fly (1:02.06).
NEXT UP: The Ladies and Gents will finish their seasons in the 2026 SCAC Championships Feb. 11-14 in Garland, Texas.
