Ladies Open Season With Fifth-Place Finish At SCAC Preview
The Centenary women's golf team finished fifth at the 2024 SCAC Preview on Tuesday as the Ladies shot a +188 (764) on Tuesday in their season-opening tournament at White Bluff Golf Course.
Whitney, Texas – The Centenary women's golf team finished fifth at the 2024 SCAC Preview on Tuesday as the Ladies shot a +188 (764) on Tuesday in their season-opening tournament at White Bluff Golf Course.
The Ladies, in their return to the same course where they finished last season's schedule in the 2024 conference championships, shot a team score of 379 and moved up from seventh place after Monday's first round in which they shot a 385.
Southwestern University won the tournament after shooting an 89-over par 665 to edge the University of St. Thomas by one stroke (90-over par 666). The University of Dallas finished third (+ 154 – 730) and Schreiner University was fourth at +156 (732). The fifth-place Ladies finished ahead of both McMurry University (+189 – 765) and Texas Lutheran University (+217 – 793).
Freshman Haylee Crowder (Haughton, La.) earned the Ladies' top finish of the tournament at 15th place as she shot a 21-over 93 on Tuesday to finish 37-over par 181. Crowder, in her collegiate debut on Monday, shot a 16-over par 88 and was tied for 12th place.
Junior Kaylee Roberts (Watonga, Okla.) had the Ladies' second-best finish as she shot a 46-over par 190 with consecutive rounds of 95 to place 27th, just ahead of her teammate - sophomore Mya Thompson (South Jordan, Utah) who finished in a tie for 28th place at 47-over par 191 after rounds of 99-92.
Freshman Amber Shaw (Hughes Springs, Texas) finished in a tie for 38th place at 66-over par 210 (103-107) and sophomore Jordyn Templeton (Columbus, Texas) finished 40th after shooting a 67-over par 211 with rounds of 112 and 99.
Ryleigh Erickson of Southwestern, the day one leader, claimed the individual title as she finished at 5-over par 149. She shot a 1-over par 73 in Tuesday's final round after a 4-over par 76 on Monday. Erickson finished 11 shots ahead of the next closest golfer, UST's Emma Cook (+16 – 160).

The Ladies return to action next month as they will face Southern University in a dual match at Oakwing Golf Club in Alexandria, La. on Oct. 14.
