Hey Hey! It's the seniors here with our last Gym Talk!
You won't believe this but last Saturday, March 11th was SENIOR NIGHT!!! Never thought it would come this quickly. Feels like just yesterday we had our first practice together as a team and now we just had our last meet in the Dome together, which was a major success! The Ladies scored a season high of 192.475!! On top of that, the vault team scored their season high of a 48.325! Shout out to Amy Foret and Carissa Martinez who scored new career and season highs on vault with a 9.6 and 9.75, respectively. To continue, Bars went 6 for 6! Amy got a new career high and season high of a 9.425 and Taylor Ann Wilson scored a new season high of a 9.85! To top off the great rotation on bars, Roxanne Myers HIT a great routine in the exhibition spot! Next, the beam queens went 6 for 6 and Emma Lavelle set a new season and career high of a 9.8. Lastly, the floor roars went out with a bang! Emma Lavelle killed it in her exhibition spot scoring a 9.7, Carissa Martinez set a new career and season high of a 9.8 and Leilani Johnson set a new career and season high of a 9.9!! YES THAT'S RIGHT A 9.9!
Our time here at Centenary has been full of wonderful memories and we want to share some of those moments with you all! We persevered through covid, hurricane Laura, and a snow apocalypse. On a lighter note, Kendall Huff and Rose Deshler certainly won't forget their recruit trip (Iykyk). Our trip to Paris was unforgettable. Sophomore year we got to go to Nationals as a team. Last year in Alaska we went sledding down the hill on cardboard boxes which was so much fun! Last but not least, we will never forget the late nights at Coach Jackie's, powerpoint nights, 6ams, swim practices, track workouts, Mao tournaments, water gun fights and so much more.
Here is a little message from each of your seniors:
Rose: I am personally still in disbelief that we were the seniors competing this time at senior night. I do not think anything could have ruined this day for me. I will never forget all of the gifts and love and support from everyone. I truly have a family here and I will miss it a lot. It is really strange to move on to a chapter of my life where I won't be competing in gymnastics. However, gymnastics will always be with me. The friendships, the memories, the traveling, the discipline, and the chalk! I love this sport and I always will.
Taylor: Just as fast as it all began, now it's almost over. We're seniors and our time here has flown by. I am so incredibly proud of all of my classmates. We have grown and learned so much together. Every day I am inspired to be the best I can to make the other seniors proud. I know they have my back as much as I have theirs from now until the end. I cherish our lifelong friendships and I can't wait to see where life takes each of us. Forever and always, Geaux Ladies!
Lacey: I have no idea where to even start. I can't wrap my mind around the fact that I just had my senior night. Gymnastics has been my life for 18 years. It has been nothing but the best times of my life and has given me the best of friends. Along with memories that I know I will cherish forever. I am so thankful to have my teammates, coaches, family, and friends by my side to support me throughout this incredible journey. Y'all will forever hold a very special place in my heart. Once a lady, always a lady!
Kendall: I can't believe this time has already come. I am so grateful for all the friendships and great memories I have gained while being here at Centenary. The minute Rose and I finished our crazy visit, I knew Centenary was where I wanted to be. These last four years, the Ladies have become my family! I have so many fantastic memories. From my first collegiate competition to senior night this past weekend, we have had so much fun! I will truly miss our team bonding activities, competing with my best friends and all the amazing places we have seen while traveling around the country. I am excited to see what the next chapter holds for everyone! Geaux Ladies!
Kennedy: It's so crazy to me that we are the ones writing the senior gym talk! I feel like it was just yesterday that we were freshmen getting ready to travel to Paris together. Time has really flown by. This journey has been a roller coaster for sure but I wouldn't trade it for anything. The memories, experiences, and friendships this program has given me are things I will treasure forever. I love that I have gotten to take on this adventure with this incredible class. I think we really exceeded some expectations and have grown a lot along the way. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us. And I am especially excited to come back with them as Alums next year to cheer on the team from the bleachers. There is really something special about this team and I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of it!
Lani: Where do I even begin? My collegiate career is coming to a close and I feel like I just got here yesterday. These four years have been nothing but a whirlwind and I'm so sad it is coming to an end. The memories and relationships I've made while being here have just been unreal and I'm so grateful for it all. I've also learned so much and have so much to carry with me in whatever endeavors await me. Every moment I've spent here is a moment I'll cherish forever!
Once a Lady, Always a Lady
With love,
