Gents Finish 13th In Rhodes Fall Invitational

The Gents shot a 57-over par 345 in Monday's final round after carding a 60-over par 636 on Sunday following two rounds of play at the par 72, 6,995-yard course.
Transylvania University, ranked 17th nationally in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek DIII Coaches Poll, won the team title as the Pioneers shot a 10-over par 874 to finish 12 strokes ahead of host Rhodes (22-over 886).
The Gents, the host Lynx, and Pioneers were joined in the field by Belhaven University, the University of Dallas, Hardin-Simmons University, Hendrix College, Mississippi University for Women (MUW), Rose-Hulman, Texas Lutheran University, and Webster University.
Transylvania 's Andy Steed claimed the individual title after firing a 3-under par 213 to edge Rhodes' Christian Iwai (2-under 214) by one shot. Four golfers finished under par as Dallas' Iain Griggs and Austin Frick of Rose-Hulman tied for third place at 1-under par 215.
Freshman Trey Bishop (Oklahoma City, Okla.) led the way for the Gents as he shot a 20-over par 236 to tie for 48th place. The rookie Bishop shot rounds of 77-76-83. Senior Jeffrey Borchert (Katy, Texas) shot a 31-over par 247 to finish 66th after rounds of 81-83-83.
Freshman Mason Wiener (Holland, Pa.) shot a 33-over par 249 to tie for 67th place, moving up three spots on Monday, and shot rounds of 85-82-82 in his collegiate debut. Senior Colton Mayer (Heath, Texas) finished 70th (44-over par 260) as he shot rounds of 83-80-97. Junior Aubrey Snell (Shreveport, La.) withdrew on Sunday leaving the Gents with just four players.
The Gents return to action on Oct. 13-14 in the SCAC Fall Preview at Hawk's Creek Golf Club in Westworth Village, Texas.
