PARKER CHRISTENSEN OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior on the men's golf team from Castle Rock, Colo., has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning March 9.
PARKER CHRISTENSEN OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior on the men's golf team from Castle Rock, Colo., has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning March 9.
The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

"The ultimate team player!"
That is what Centenary head men's and women's golf coach Emlyn Aubrey called Parker Christensen.
Parker, a Colorado native, came to Centenary as a football recruit and joined the men's golf team, much to Aubrey's delight.
"Parker Christensen has been the ultimate team player for us," said Aubrey. As one of our very first football recruits, he had some down time as the program was being established those first two years."
"Having dabbled in golf in high school, Parker came to me asking if he could join the golf team to occupy some of his time on campus and I said yes, of course. I never regretted it one minute with this young man. No, he didn't get to start many tournaments for us, but he was always at practice working on his game and setting a great example for his teammates. I am looking forward to what Parker will accomplish in life!"
"I wanted to attend Centenary for the small-school environment and my family legacy here," said Christensen.
"I have had the opportunity through the Kappa Sigma Fraternity to work on pairing Veterans with Service Dogs and supporting local first responders. Through Centenary, I have gotten the chance to read to children in a classroom setting."
"Golf has taught me how to persevere, because the only person you are truly playing when you play golf is yourself. If you hit a bad shot, you have until you reach the ball to focus on how to course-correct and make your best effort moving forward."
"Centenary provides many resources for student-athletes to help them navigate class. With the learning commons and great professors, it is very easy to remain balanced while also being involved on campus."
