Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: Feb. 8 Edition Part Two

Hey Ladies fans! It's senior Madison McCary with this week's gym talk! We had a very eventful week with exciting things to come for Centenary gymnastics!
This week, we had 3 practices after our first home meet in the Gold Dome, to get ready for our meet against Texas Woman's University on Sunday afternoon. While 3 practices is a short amount of time between meets, our Ladies got their work done and were efficient in every practice. Thursday during practice we had an impromptu beam intrasquad- let me just say I am so proud of them! The score and performance in the intrasquad most definitely reflected our hard work this season as well as our mental toughness and carried us into a great performance at the meet.
We left in the buses on Saturday afternoon to head to our competition at Texas Woman's University. The meet was a "Pink Meet", so we wore pink in our warmup outfits and our competition leos (as well as wearing pink ribbons), to support those fighting with cancer. We each dedicated the meet to a person who held special places in our hearts, who either fought or are fighting various cancers. The meet was filled with moments to cherish and celebrations that we will never forget!
This meet we had 2 season high event scores on beam and floor! Not to mention, Emma Lavelle finished in 1st place in the All Around with a 37.85! Leilani Johnson also deserves a shoutout for her amazing yurchenko layout on vault, scoring a 9.625! I am proud of all of my teammates on every event because they have worked so hard and they are always ready to keep improving.
My favorite part of this weekend was the energy! TWU is a meet that our family and friends get to come to since it is close! Having family and friends at meets is something that brings our energy to a new level because we have so many people who get to love and support us in person! The next two weeks we will be gearing up for our meet in Alaska! We are all so excited for our trip and I can't wait to see what is in store for the rest of this season! Thanks for tuning in!
