Seniors Gym Talk
Hey Centenary Ladies Fans, it's the silver bullets here for our last gym talk,
Another competition season has come and gone for the Ladies. The senior class is incredibly proud of our Ladies for staying positive and never backing down from a challenge.
This weekend was our last meet as a team for the year, the MIC championships! What a weekend it was. We had so many beautiful routines and stand out moments. The weekend started with a practice day in the TWU Pioneer Hall Arena. It was a solid practice for the team as we went in and hit all our skills to prepare for competition the next day. After practice we visited the historic Denton Square, walked around, grabbed some tacos, and were surprised and go our "last treat" with some Beth Marie's Ice Cream by our lovely "Lady Jackie".
We then got dolled up for the MIC Banquet, where the scholar athletes were announced as well as other superlatives and senior recognitions. Something that people may not know about the MIC conference is at the banquet each team is drawn out of a hat to pick the starting event for competition day. The Ladies got drawn second, but thankfully Illinois state choosing the bye first gave us our first choice of starting on Vault. Once all the fun was over the Ladies had one more sleep until conference day.
Competition day rolled around, we had a great breakfast at the Embassy Suites and started to prepare for our meet. One of our favorite things about meet day is running around the hotel and getting ready with our teammates. Getting our makeup done, doing braids, just having fun and being with each other. We got to the arena, did our visualizations and were ready to start our meet. We had a solid warm up and some beautiful routines. Shout out to Lacey Wedge for her beautiful vault, shout out to the Bar squad for putting together the best bar rotation of the season. Shout out to Kennedy Stephens for her spot-on beam routine and shout out to Rose Deshler for being a solid lead off all season on two events.
The Ladies finished with a team score of 189.350, which was our second highest score of the season.
A big congrats to our All-Conference Scholar Athletes: Chloe Armentor, Emma Lavelle, Roxy Myers, Rylie Molina, Izzie Plaza, Taylor Ann Wilson, Kennedy Stephens, Kendall Huff, Rose, Kendall Sanders, Kendall Knaps, and Madison McCary. We truly are students first and we work hard to keep those GPA's up!
We found who has qualified for our USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship on Sunday. Congrats to: Kendall Sanders (AA) , Taylor Ann Wilson (BRS), Leilani Johnson (V), Kendall Huff (V), Emma Lavelle (FLR). We are excited for you to represent the Centenary Gymnastics team and know you will kill it in New York!
As this season comes to a close, the seniors want to congratulate all of the accomplishments from every person on the team. We are so thankful to have had such an amazing team and culture for our last year at Centenary. We would not trade it for the world. All of the laughs, tears, dance sessions, conditionings, weekend workouts, and pre-meet hypes. We will forever be a Lady and have memories forever. So, here's to a few more practices to play around and throw some skills the coaches never knew we could do!
Here are some of our favorite moments this year:
- Competing at LSU was a HUGE moment for the Ladies. The TV time, and exposure for DIII gymnastics is something that doesn't usually happen. We are grateful to have John Roethlisberger as a new Lady fan.
- Getting to have fans return to the Dome was a first-time experience for our Freshman and Sophomores.
- Going to Alaska for 5 days! And yes, Xian did see a Moose.
- Getting the new Sylvia Leotard and competing in it Infront of alumni who were on the team with her.
- Sharing the special moments with Coach Jackie during her retirement meet.
- Hitting a 191.575 on Senior night AND getting to wear the Black C leotard IYKYK.
- Getting our newest addition to the Centenary Family, Coach Brittany Harris. We thank you for coming into this season and loving us unconditionally. We wish you the best in your years to come.
- Getting to room as a class at conference and hitting up the local Burger Den IYKYK.
Ladies on me, Ladies on 3…3

Kibs, Bits, Duke, and Mads aka the Silver Bullets <3
