Ladies Edged By Panthers On Friday Night

Greenville, Ill. - The Centenary gymnastics team posted a 187.900 on Friday as the Ladies finished second to the host Greenville University Panthers inside H.J. Long Gymnasium.

The Panthers, ranked 81st this week in the Road to Nationals rankings, won the meet with a 188.050 team score, just edging the Ladies (79th – RTN). Friday's meet marked the third time that the teams competed against each other this season. Both teams were both part of the Bulldog Invitational, a quad meet hosted by Fisk University in Jan. 11 in Nashville, Tenn. and they met on Feb. 6 in Shreveport as Centenary defeated Greenville in its home opener with an impressive team score of 190.100.
The Ladies finished with the following event scores on Friday:
BARS: 45.275
BEAM: 47.325
FLOOR: 47.425
VAULT: 47.875
Senior Amy Foret (Bedford, Texas) continued her impressive season as she had the Ladies' top score of the meet, a 9.70 on vault, to place second. She also won on beam with a season-high tying 9.675 and finished fourth on floor with a 9.60.
Senior Claire Flores (Oklahoma City, Okla.) was runner-up on bars with a 9.425 and third on both floor (9.65) and vault (9.625). Sophomore Skyla Cruz (El Paso, Texas) finished second on beam with a 9.625, and sophomore Anna Ichiba (Murphy, Texas) finished fourth on beam (9.525) and ninth on vault (9.45).
Sophomore Erin Pinder (Bridgetown Barbados) won on bars with a season-high 9.475, sophomore Peyton Burford (West Monroe, La.) finished seventh on vault with a 9.525, and sophomore Olivia Montgomery (Willard, Mo.) finished in a tie for fifth on vault with a season-high 9.575. Freshman Riley Navarro (Boiling Springs, Pa.) was seventh on beam (9.45) and junior Brooke Murdock (Garland, Texas) finished in a tie for sixth on floor (9.50).
NEXT UP: Centenary will conclude the weekend and its regular season on Sunday with dual meet at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio at 1:30 PM.
