Gents Downed By Skyhawks In Home Opener On Wednesday
The Centenary lacrosse team fell 20-13 to the Point University Skyhawks on Wednesday evening in the Gents' home opener at Atkins Field.

Shreveport - The Centenary lacrosse team fell 20-13 to the Point University Skyhawks on Wednesday evening in the Gents' home opener at Atkins Field.
The Gents (2-4) finally played on their home field after being on the road for their first five games of the season. The Skyhawks evened their record at 4-4 with the win. Point led 6-3 after the first quarter and edged Centenary 3-2 in the second to hold a 9-5 lead at halftime.
The Skyhawks outscored the Gents 6-2 in the third period and Centenary scored six goals in the final period to Point's five, but the advantages in the first and third quarters enabled Point to secure the win.
Point finished with a 60-39 advantage in shots and 24-19 in ground balls. The Skyhawks went 25-37 on face offs while the Gents were 12-37. Centenary turned the ball over 19 times and Point gave it away 12 times.
Sophomore M Ethan Hewett (Bossier City, La.) led the Gents with five goals and senior A G'Colby Spivey (Dallas, Texas) was right behind him with four. Senior M Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) and freshman A Gamble Harvill (Bossier City, La.), each scored two. Sophomore A Gibson Harvill (Bossier, City, La.) tallied a pair of assists and Spivey and sophomore D Thomas Jordan (Dallas, Texas) each had one.
Thomas Van Alstine scored six goals to lead Point and Malyke Sellers and Aaron Mordarski each had four. Shaun McLaughlin added three and Rodney Oakley scored two.
Senior GK Dylan Miller (Shreveport, La.) played all 60 minutes in the net and made 15 saves while Aaron Robinson also played the whole game for Point and made eight saves.
Centenary hits the road again this weekend for two games, at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio on Saturday and at Spalding University in Louisville, Ky. on Sunday.
