Gents Win Second In A Row On Sunday
The Centenary lacrosse team won its second game in a row on Sunday as the Gents defeated the Huntingdon College Hawks 17-9 at Samford Stadium.
Montgomery, Ala. - The Centenary lacrosse team won its second game in a row on Sunday as the Gents defeated the Huntingdon College Hawks 17-9 at Samford Stadium.
The Gents (2-1) completed a perfect weekend after recording a 13-10 win on Friday against LaGrange College in LaGrange, Ga. The Hawks fell to 1-2 on the season with the loss.
Centenary led 8-4 at halftime and outscored the Hawk 9-5 in the second half to secure the win. Freshman A Gamble Harvill (Bossier City, La.) scored a game-high five goals to lead the Centenary offense, senior M Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) scored three, and sophomore M Ethan Hewett (Bossier City, La.), sophomore A Gibson Harvill (Bossier, City, La.), and senior A G'Colby Spivey (Dallas, Texas) each scored two.
Junior M Xavier Nixon (Dallas, Texas), freshman A/M Connor Shaver (Leander, Texas), and freshman MF Travis Davis (Shreveport, La.) each scored a goal. Cook and Gibson Harvill each had four assists and Hewett, Spivey and David each had one. Kelcey Marston led the Hawks with three goals Josh Knost and Anthony Piazza each had two
The Gents outshot the Hawks 45-40 and edged them in ground balls, 35-34. Centenary went 13-15 on clears while Huntingdon was 9-11, and the Gents were 10-29 on face offs with the Hawks finishing 19-29. The Hawks turned the ball over 22 times and the Gents 19.
Senior Dylan Miller (Shreveport, La.) went the distance in goal for the Gents and made 13 saves while the Hawks used two goalies - Liam Angst and Kade Bankovich, and they combined for seven saves.
Centenary will return to action at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa on March 5.
