Shreveport – The Centenary lacrosse team opened its 2026 season with a dominating 27-10 victory over the LaGrange College Panthers in a non-conference contest at a frigid Atkins Field.
The Gents (1-0) tied their program record for goals in a game on Saturday against the Panthers (0-1) and tied the all-time series 2-2 and have won two in a row after a 13-10 win last season in LaGrange, Ga. Centenary took a 16-4 halftime lead and cruised to the victory.
Sophomore A Noah Walsh (Mount Prospect, Ill.) made an immediate impact in his Gents' debut as he scored a whopping eight goals and tallied seven assists, both of which led the team, and he set a new program record for points in a game with 15. Walsh, a transfer from Anderson University, scored two goals in the first quarter, three in the second, two in the third, and one in the fourth. Walsh's 15 points are also the sixth-most in a single game by a D3 player in NCAA history.
Sophomore A Gamble Harvill (Bossier City, La.) was right behind Walsh with seven goals, and freshman O/MF Aiden McQuat (Lafayette, La.) scored five. Freshman GK Jake Huff (Carlisle, Mass.) started and made seven saves. Huff played the first 45 minutes in goal and was replaced by freshman GK Ethan Young (Harvey La.) who played the fourth quarter.
The Gents led 9-2 after the first quarter and outscored the Panthers 7-2 in the second period to open a comfortable halftime advantage. A 9-3 edge in the third gave the Maroon and White a 24-7 lead headed to the final period and LaGrange finished with a 3-2 advantage in a low-scoring final 15 minutes.
Centenary finished with a 92-20 advantage in shots, 47-8 in ground balls, and won 34-41 face offs. The Gents were successful on all 12 of their clear attempts while the Panthers were 14-17. LaGrange turned the ball over 22 times compared to 15 for Centenary.
Freshman MF Andrew Hayden (Bryant, Ark.) scored two goals and five Gents scored one goal each – junior M Ethan Hewett (Bossier City, La.), junior A Gibson Harvill (Bossier, City, La.), sophomore D Carter Romero (Lafayette, La.), sophomore MF Cooper Harris (Lexington, Ky.), and freshman FO Gavin Ferrington (Bossier City, La.). Gibson Harvill added three assists, second-most behind Walsh's team-high seven, and four players tallied one assist each – Hewett, Gamble Harvill, McQuat, and junior MF Dominic Ogier (St. Louis, Mo.).
Nicholas Muricano scored four goals to lead the Panthers, Tyler Abrams had three, Lawrence Johnson-Chambers two, and Arhat Dhabe one. Abrams had a team-high three assists and Jackson Ball had one.
