Gents Remain Unbeaten After Hammering Heidelberg 15-3

Shreveport - The Centenary lacrosse team remained unbeaten as the streaking Gents hammered Heidelberg University 15-3 on Tuesday night in a non-conference game at Atkins Field.
The Gents (8-0) led 9-1 at halftime and cruised to the win as they improved to 4-0 at home. The Student Princes fell to 3-3 overall and 1-2 on the road as Tuesday marked the first meeting between the two programs.
Sophomore A Noah Walsh (Mount Prospect, Ill.) scored a game-high five goals to lead the Gents and sophomore A Gamble Harvill (Bossier City, La.) was right behind him with four. Junior M Ethan Hewett (Bossier City, La.) and freshman FO Gavin Ferrington (Bossier City, La.) each scored a pair and freshman MF Andrew Hayden (Bryant, Ark.) and sophomore MF Cooper Harris (Lexington, Ky.) each scored one.
Walsh had four assists and Hewett had three while freshman O/MF Aiden McQuat (Lafayette, La.) and junior MF Dominic Ogier (St. Louis, Mo.) each tallied one.
Freshman GK Jake Huff (Carlisle, Mass.) made 12 saves before yielding to freshman GK Ethan Young (Harvey, La.) for the final 2:26. Wilson Runnette went the distance in the net for Heidelberg and was busy as he made 25 saves.
Freshman FO Gavin Ferrington (Bossier City, La.) went 9-11 on face offs, freshman FO/MF Sean Nadler (Shreveport, La.) was 7-8, and senior MF Chris Masterson (Zachary, La.) was 2-3.
Ferrington also had a team-high seven ground balls, Nadler four, sophomore D Landon Mosley (Shreveport, La.) picked up three, and Hayden had two. Centenary finished with 12 caused turnovers, led by five from freshman D Grant McGuire (Benton, Ark.)
Colin Parker, Rayce Septer, and Mario Manzardo each scored a goal for the visitors and Septer had Heidelberg's lone assist.
Centenary finished with a 60-28 advantage in shots, 24-8 in ground balls, and won 18-22 face offs. The Gents were successful on all 19 of their clear attempts while the Student Princes were 18-18. Heidelberg turned the ball over 25 times compared to 21 for Centenary.
The Gents have now scored a whopping 176 goals this season and are averaging 22 per game. The Maroon and White have scored at least 13 in all eight games and 20 or more in six.
NEXT UP: The Gents will welcome Spalding University to Atkins Field on Saturday at 11 AM for Senior Day. Centenary's senior class will be honored in a pregame ceremony at approximately 10:30 AM.
