Baseball Set For Weekend Series In SCAC Play Versus LeTourneau
The Centenary baseball team is set to face LeTourneau University in a three-game weekend series in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play beginning with a single game on Friday at 6 PM at Shehee Stadium.

The Diamond Gents (8-10, 3-6 SCAC) and YellowJackets (9-8, 7-5 SCAC) will wrap up the series on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 PM. Friday's game marks just the fifth at home this season for the Maroon and White as they have spent the majority of the first portion of the season on the road (14 of 18 games).

LAST MEETING: The Diamond Gents and YellowJackets last met on April 16, 2024 in Shreveport as they split a DH. This weekend marks the first meeting between the two as conference opponents.
Centenary was picked to finish sixth in the SCAC Preseason poll this season while LeTourneau was tabbed seventh.
The 2026 SCAC Baseball Tournament will be held at The Depot at Cleburne Station in Cleburne, Texas as the double-elimination tournament will begin on April 30 and will feature six teams. The YellowJackets are currently tied for third place and the Diamond Gents are 10th.
Centenary is hitting .281 as a team with a .385 on-base percentage and slugging .370 with eight home runs. The Diamond Gents have 168 hits, scored 103 runs, 88 RBI, 25 doubles, 77 walks, 30 hit by pitches, 19 stolen bases, and nine sacrifice flies.
Sophomore CF Blaine Birkelbach (Pearland, Texas) leads the team in hits (27) and RBI (17) and has scored 13 runs with four doubles, eight BB, and four stolen bases. Birkelbach, in the top 10 in the league in RBI, has a .420 OBP and .436 slugging % with eight multi-hit games including a pair of 4-hit performances.
Senior 2B Clay Menard (Berwick, La.) is ninth in the conference in batting average (.404) and has 21 hits (third on team) with a team-high 13 BB, eight runs scored, seven RBI, two doubles, and a stolen base. He has a .537 OBP % and is slugging .442.
Freshman 1B Ethan Hopkins (Baton Rouge, La.) has hit a team-high three home runs which ranks him among the conference leaders and Sophomore IF Aron Gillum (Shreveport, La.) has hit two. Hopkins is hitting .279 (.355 OBP/.471 slugging) with 19 hits (fourth on team), 12 RBI (tied for second on team), 13 runs scored, two stolen bases, four doubles, and six BB. Gillum is hitting .246 (.405 OBP/.386 slugging) with 14 hits, nine RBI, 11 BB, 13 runs scored, two doubles, and a pair of stolen bases.
Sophomore IF Noah Paulson (El Lago, Texas) is batting .313 (.383 OBP/.433 slugging) with 21 hits (third on team), 12 RBI, eight BB, a team-leading five doubles, nine runs scored, and two stolen bases. Freshman 3B Garritt Romero (Manvel, Texas) is batting .250 (.298 OBP/.325 slugging) with 10 hits, seven runs scored, six RBI, three doubles, and three BB.
Junior SS Vance Sartor (Prescott Valley, Ariz.) is batting .324 (.382 OBP/.441 slugging) with 22 hits (second on team), 10 RBI (third on team), three doubles, a triple, one homer, four BB, nine runs scored, and four stolen bases. Senior C Caleb Ickes (Prairieville, La.) is hitting .233 (.389 OBP/.233 slugging) with 10 hits, 10 runs scored, four RBI, five BB, and a stolen base.
Sophomore P/IF Treyson Martin (Huffman, Texas) leads the pitching staff in wins (3) and appearances (11) and has started one game. He is 3-1 with a 4.66 ERA and his three wins are third-most in the conference. He is also second on the team with 16 strikeouts in 19.1 IP.
Sophomore RHP Coen Laroux (Woodworth, La.) is off to an impressive start in his second season as he is 2-0 in seven appearances and 15.0 IP with a team-leading 1.80 ERA. He has allowed just three earned runs with just three BB and a team-high 20 strikeouts.
Senior RHP Jacob Broussard (Houston, Texas) is 1-2 with a 5.06 ERA in six appearances (fourth on team) and four starts (second on team). He has worked 21.1 innings (second on team) and allowed just eight BB and 20 K's (tied for first on team).

The YellowJackets were the American Southwest Conference (ASC) co-regular season champions last season- their final one in that league before joining the SCAC.
Despite LETU's close proximity to Centenary, there are no Louisiana natives on the YellowJackets' roster.
