Ladies Battle Warriors But Fall 3-0 On Saturday
The Centenary volleyball team battled the Hendrix College Warriors through three competitive sets before falling 3-0 in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest inside the Gold Dome.
Shreveport – The Centenary volleyball team battled the Hendrix College Warriors through three competitive sets before falling 3-0 in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest inside the Gold Dome.
The Ladies (1-7, 0-2 SCAC) lost set one by a score of 25-15, 25-17 in set two, and 27-25 in a thrilling third set. The Warriors improved to 9-1 and 3-0 in conference play and now lead the all-time series with the Ladies, 6-1.
Centenary finished with 26 kills and 24 errors for a .020 hitting percentage and tallied 35 digs, 24 assists, eight service aces, and a pair of blocks. Hendrix had 43 kills and 12 errors for a .337 hitting % and finished with 45 digs, 41 assists, five blocks, and three aces.

Freshman MB Aley Dixon (White Oak, Texas) had two kills and a dig, junior OH/DS Destiny Labbe (Eunice, La.) added four kills and a pair of digs, and junior S/DS Hannah Dimmel (Navasota, Texas) nearly matched her season total of digs (seven) with six and added two assists.
Freshman DS/L Isela Castillo (Arlington, Texas) tallied four digs and an assist. Freshman DS/S Elizabeth Castillo (Austin, Texas) added a dig and freshman DS Myami Howard (Mansfield, La.) had two digs and freshman OH Bella Baker (White Oak, Texas) had two digs, two kills, and one assist.
Hendrix jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the first set but Centenary rallied with a 4-1 run to pull within a point at 11-9. The Ladies again got close at 16-13, but the Warriors finished on a 9-2 run to win the set 25-15.
The second set featured five ties and multiple lead changes as the teams stayed within a point or two of each other until the Warriors took a 12-8 lead but the Ladies cut their deficit to 12-11. Then the visitors answered with a 4-0 run to take a 16-11 lead but the Ladies scored two-straight points to make it 16-13. Hendrix, though, came right back with four points in a row to extend its lead to 20-13 and then Centenary scored two more to get within 20-15. The Warriors then outscored the Ladies 5-2 to clinch the 25-17 set win.
The gritty Ladies jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the third and final set and then led 13-8, but the Warriors rallied to tied the set at 13-13 and then scored the next two points for a 15-13 lead. But the Ladies scored two points in a row to re-tie the match at 15-15 and Hendrix responded with a 3-0 run to get up 18-15.
The Ladies then went on arguably their most impressive run of the season as they responded with seven-straight points to lead 22-18 which included all three of Harris' aces and the 7-0 run forced a Hendrix timeout as the inspired Ladies regained momentum.
Three-straight points by the Warriors cut their deficit to 22-21 and then after a point by Centenary to make it 23-21, Hendrix scored the next two to tie the set at 23-23. The Ladies and Warriors then traded points on consecutive possessions to make it 25-25 but Hendrix scored the next two to survive a frenetic final set and clinch the sweep.
The Ladies wrap up their home weekend with another SCAC contest on Sunday versus the University of the Ozarks at 1 PM inside the Gold Dome. Ozarks (3-6, 1-2 SCAC) was swept at LeTourneau University on Saturday in Longview, Texas
