Ladies Swept By Southern Arkansas On Tuesday
The Centenary volleyball team was swept by the Southern Arkansas University Muleriders in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening inside the Gold Dome.
Shreveport – The Centenary volleyball team was swept by the Southern Arkansas University Muleriders in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening inside the Gold Dome.
The Ladies (2-16) lost for the ninth time in a row and are now 2-3 at home this season while the Muleriders, a division II opponent, improved to 9-14 overall. SAU now leads the all-time series with Centenary, 11-1, and Tuesday's match was the first meeting between the schools since the Muleriders recorded a 3-0 win in Shreveport on Oct. 18, 2022.
SAU won the first set 25-12, but sets two and three were very competitive as the Muleriders took the second by a score of 25-19 and closed out the sweep with a 25-17 margin in set three. Centenary finished with 38 digs, 31 kills, 29 assists, and five service aces. The Muleriders recorded 47 digs, 40 kills, 37 assists, six aces, and a solo block.
Ladies' Individual Statistical Leaders:
Aces: Sophomore S Jadyn Harris (Fort Worth, Texas) – 3
Assists: Freshman S Lillian Mycke (Athens, Texas) and Harris – 14 each
Digs: Freshman OH/DS Zoe Garcia (Magnolia, Texas) – 13
Kills: Junior OH/DS Destiny Labbe (Eunice, La.) – 12
The Ladies return to league play this weekend as they will play in a league crossover hosted by LeTourneau University. Centenary will play three matches, facing Colorado College and the University of St. Thomas on Saturday and McMurry University on Sunday.
