Ladies Swept By 'Roos On Friday Night
The Centenary volleyball team was swept in straight sets on Friday night by the Austin College 'Roos in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest inside Hughey Gym.
Sherman, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team was swept in straight sets on Friday night by the Austin College 'Roos in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest inside Hughey Gym.
The Ladies (2-11, 1-6 SCAC) lost for the fourth time in a row and dropped to 0-5 in road matches this season. The 'Roos improved to 11-6 overall and 5-2 in league play and are now 6-0 at home this season. Austin College leads the all-time series with Centenary 24-4 and have won three matches in a row, all sweeps.
Austin College took the first set, 25-11, won the second set 25-19, and closed out the win in the third set, 25-22. The Ladies finished with 26 digs, 21 kills, 17 assists, six service aces, and one solo block. The 'Roos tallied 31 digs, 30 kills, 26 assists, 11 aces, and three solo blocks.
Ladies' Individual Statistical Leaders:
Aces: Junior OH/DS Destiny Labbe (Eunice, La.) and freshman OH/DS Zoe Garcia (Magnolia, Texas) – 2 each
Assists: Freshman S Lillian Mycke (Athens, Texas) – 9
Blocks: Freshman MB Aley Dixon (White Oak, Texas) – 1
Digs: Freshman DS/L Isela Castillo (Arlington, Texas) and sophomore S Jadyn Harris (Fort Worth, Texas) – 6 each
Kills: Garcia and Labbe – 6 each
Sophomore MB Laijah Rockward (Houma, La.) had two kills, a block assist, and an ace and freshman OH Bella Baker (White Oak, Texas) had one block assist.
The Ladies will face the University of Dallas on Saturday in Irving, Texas at 1 PM to finish off the weekend. The Crusaders (1-18, 0-7 SCAC) were swept by LeTourneau University at home on Friday.
