Hellooooo Ladies Fans!!
It's freshman, Peyton Burford, here with another Gym Talk about my first semester as a college student, and as a Centenary gymnast! The 2024 semester has been so exciting and eventful, and I'm here to tell y'all all about it!
Paris was the first of many amazing things that happened this semester. Not many people get to say that they started college in another country. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity that helped us build lifelong friendships and memories that will last forever. It was a special way for our freshmen class to grow closer together while learning about the culture of another country. But as soon as we got back, our fall semester was in full swing.
All the freshmen got settled in and started adjusting to the new changes of college. Although the classes can be challenging, the freshmen ladies worked hard studying and helping each other out!
We were welcomed by the rest of the team, and all started bonding over our team dinners, team retreats, and other things like our sister reveals! I'm happy that I became a part of the split fam with my twin, Anna Ichiba, and my older sisters, Olivia Stratmann and Emma Lavelle, and fun fact, Coach Meg is also a part of the Split Fam!
Inside the gym, my first semester as a college gymnast was awesome! College gymnastics has been so much fun! Now, instead of working towards your goals individually, we are all working together to strengthen the team! And the team is so good about pushing each other to be 1% better each day. The practices in Jill's are always so much fun, filled with dancing, positive energy, and hard work! College gymnastics is all about becoming part of something bigger than yourself, working with girls who have the same goals as each other, and to push everyone on the team to work harder. That's what being a Centenary gymnast is all about!
Not only do the ladies work hard in and out of the gym and classroom, we work hard at being supportive to our other Lady and Gent sports teams. We have gone to men and women's soccer games, men and women's basketball games, swim meets, and football games to support all of our athletic teams. We always bring energy everywhere we go, and we take pride in how much fun we have at all the events!
We had our first intrasquad in the Gold Dome on December 6th, and it was nothing short of amazing! It was the freshmen's first taste of what competition season is all about. Now that our first meet is less than a month away, the Ladies are working hard over break to keep up the determination! I cannot wait to see what the competition season has in store for all the Ladies!
And I'm proud to say that all eight freshmen have successfully thrived during our first semester at Centenary, and we cannot wait for the upcoming semester!
Happy Holidays Ladies Fans, and thanks for tuning in!!
