Babson Park, Fla. - The Brevard College Men's Golf team wrapped up their second tournament of the fall season Tuesday, finishing 10th out of 19 teams at the 15th Annual Webber Intercollegiate, hosted by Webber International University. Brevard's team score of 39-over par 903 was 24 shots behind team champion Brevard Community College.
Brevard junior Grant Carnie (Ellon, Scotland) finished 2nd in the individual portion of the event, carding a 54-hole total of 2-under 214. Carnie finished tied after three rounds with Webber's Craig Isabel, but lost in a playoff. Brevard's Joshua Davis (Old Fort, N.C.), who earned medalist honors at last week's Glen Cannon Invitational, finished tied for 13th, with a total score of 5-over 221.
Brevard's Bret McGaughey (Laguna Beach, Cal.) finished in a 53rd place tie, carding a total of 233. Two strokes behind McGaughey was Tornado Thomas Bush (Dacula, Ga.), whose 235 was good enough for a tie for 63rd. The final member of the Tornado squad, Chris White (Hendersonville, N.C.), placed tied for 86th with a total score of 246.
Coach David Nelson also fielded a "B" team, which finished 19th with a cumulative score of 164-over par 1,028. Tom Rennie (Aberdeen, Scotland) paced the "B" squad with a three-day total of 235, good for a 63rd place tie. Craig Galloway (East Calder, Scotland) placed in a tie for 72nd, with a score a 237. Joshua Nelson (Mooresville, N.C.) finished 90th after three rounds totaling 249, and Zack Christy (Highlands, N.C.) placed 99th, with a total of 307.
The Tornados continue their fall season next week at the Clayton State Invitational in Hampton, Ga.
